I read this book for the Goodreads' Book Club Diversity in All Forms!
I found this book to only be "okay." I was really looking forward to reading it because I heard great things. However, when I started reading it I realized that it was very slow. I felt it took a long time to get interesting. This book took me way longer to finish than I had expected.

This is my first book by Gail Honeyman (I believe this is her only book), but hopefully not my last. What an outstanding author! I absolutely loved this book! From the very beginning, Eleanor Oliphant had me giggling, frowning, and as the book continued, so did a wide range of emotions on my part. I love it when books evoke so many different emotions. I can recognize why this book has been heralded by critics, and I thought about giving it a 4 star rating for those very reasons, but I honestly didn't enjoy reading this book as much as I thought I would. The characterization of Eleanor Oliphant is brilliant, and her voice unique- the fantastic vocabulary/diction chosen by Honeyman is to be commended, and even the twist at the end of the book is admittedly well-written and caught me off guard.
