Couldn't stop reading once I started. The descriptions of life during constant war and turmoil really opened my eyes and heart to the characters and people living in these circumstances. Despite the harsh realities endured the story still sends a message of hope and triumph. Highly recommend this book to anyone. ...more

I enjoyed Hosseini's first novel The Kite Runner, but I thought it was a bit predictable. A Thousand Splendid Suns was wonderful. The story and characters are robust and intriguing in their complexities. Your empathetic abilities will be tugged to rise and fall and rise again as you shadow Mariam's and Laila's journey. ...more
