Shelves: family, relationships, womens-fiction, east-asian-mc, china, family-saga, immigration, mothers-and-daughters

This is mothers and daughters telling their stories. They don't really know each other. This is the real them. Beliefs and traditions play a part. Some went through so much. A lot of what happens is sad. I don't think I took the time with this book that is necessary with each of their stories. It did make me think about the parents, grandparents and immigrants around me and what interesting stories they might have. ...more

Ugh. These tears! I'm really close to my Marmy (what I call my mom), and all of these stories are making me recall the fights and misunderstandings when I was growing up, and now, the deep appreciation I have for this woman who is MY mother. I'm going to need a bit before I can form complete sentences I think. *bawls* ...more
