I can't believe I let myself go so long without reading this classic. Reading of lives within the Chinese culture and assimilating into America is just fascinating, as well as the mother/daughter relationships I read about. Highly recommend - now I just need to see the movie! ...more

3.5/5 - this is a piece of fiction written from the perspective of various mother / daughter pairs about their experiences growing up in china and immigrating to the US and the daughter’s experience growing up as the daughter of an immigrant mother.
