What Members Thought

Simon is one of those characters you can't help but root for. The high school theater scene was on point. Nostalgia city.

“Sometimes it seems like everyone knows who I am except me.”
I don't usually gravitate towards YA contemporary novels anymore since I often find them predictable and a bit tad too dramatic. A lot of things has changed since then regarding my views on the genre and how it is being written. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda has been recommended to me by my friends, and I have heard a lot of great things about it. Also, I needed some light and easy read to get me through my reading slump.

Probably the cuddliest ya contemporary I've ever read. That's the first word that came to mind when thinking about this book: cuddly. It's just an all around feel good book.
I didn't know parts of this took place in Atlanta, Georgia and it was just nice being able to to know exactly where these characters were hanging out, having been to these places myself. It really made me feel like I was another part of Simon's group.

Ah, the overthinking of high school; I remember it well. Not surprising that there is now a Simon-verse series of books because the kids of Creekwood High School are fun to hang out with. Lots of contemporary and true-to-life dialogue, anxieties, and real politicking.
I began on audiobook but needed to switch to print, because its frequent back-and-forth between prose and email/ epistolary format was tedious to listen to, with recitation time after time of the email addresses snd time stamps.

How freaking adorable was this book? I am not normally a fan of YA, but this can be an exception. I hate mushy family friendly Disney-esque books, but something about the sweetness of Simon and his family was so charming I couldn't help but love them.
To be fair, this isn't the sort of hard-hitting deep thinker literary people worship, most people probably guess Blue's identity well before it was revealed, but I don't think that matters. A light, fun read is exactly what you need sometimes, and ...more

It is a light white privilege tale of a suburb boy coming out to his friends and family.
If I were a teen I might have given this more. Pretty fluffy stuff here, but it is a cute tale.
