Outstanding! Couldn't put it down and didn't want it to end. I should have read this years ago. This first in her series of autobiographies covers her childhood up until the birth of her son at age sixteen. She writes prose as beautiful, poignant, and vivid as her poetry. I feel like I've just spent the last couple of days in small-town Alabama and California in the 1930s and early '40s.
