4.5 stars. At this point, you have probably heard of Malala Yousafzai. She is the young schoolgirl who just a few years ago was shot by the Taliban while she was just trying to attend school. Her story has inspired people around the world to stand up for educating all children. Education is the greatest gift one can receive. This book is truly inspirational!
Being able to do something like attend school is something that I definitely take for granted being an American. I was very easily able to g ...more

Wow. Just wow. How often does a girl get to tell her story and have people actually listen!
Malala is both an exceptional young woman and yet could be anyone's daughter. She was a child while the events of this book were going on. It sickens me (and should sicken all of us) that any child, anywhere, should have to endanger her life for speaking her mind and wanting an education.
I respect her and wanted to hug her at the same time.

Let me make it clear that this review is for the book. Malala Yousafzai is amazing, and her story needs to be heard. I'm glad I read it. But the writing style, I'm assuming mostly from the writer who collaborated with her, was just not great. It felt contrived and it was very hard to feel a connection with the people am she was writing about, including Malala. It was almost as if she was telling the story of all of this happening from a distance; it felt very removed. A subject this compelling i

This memoir puts life into perspective. I've never had to fight to have an education. It has always just been right there in front of me. It's incredibly inspiring that someone so young has fought so fiercely for education for girls.
I liked the mix of Pakistani history, snips of her life and Muslim culture in Pakistan.
I initially purchased this when it first came out, borrowed it to a friend who asked to read it, and then it ended up back listed. I picked up the audio-book for my clinicals tri ...more

Although the writing itself is not stellar, Malala’s story and her version of the history of her country and the events leading up to her shooting incident is engaging and informative. There are many who understand the history and current events in Pakistan better than I do, or have direct experience with the country, so I cannot comment on the “truth” of every statement made in the book. Any memoir or autobiography is colored by the age and point of view of its writer and I’m sure Malala’s stor
