Okay, I know. Strange choice for me. But I have been in the WORST book slump for months and I have started and given up on several romances, making me a super unhappy bibliophile. So I figured, what the fuck, let's go completely nuts and read an alien romance!

So here we are.

NOW- I have no triggers but there are things I HATE in books: "Mating" to "make babies" (ick), annoyingly caveman alphas (the ones who bark "MINE!" and do "everything in their power to possess her"), rape described on the pag Okay, I know. So here we are.

NOW- I have no triggers but there are things I HATE in books: "Mating" to "make babies" (ick), annoyingly caveman alphas (the ones who bark "MINE!" and do "everything in their power to possess her"), rape described on the page (rape as a theme is okay, I just don't want to read it as it happens), and present tense narrative. I LOATHE these things. But this book has ALL these things. And I still really loved it (I devoured it like candy TBH).

My biggest pet peeve is the caveman alpha (yes, I know I am quite alone in hating this, but I do to my very core). I like my relationships in books to feel realistic. Real men do not act like that. But that's the beauty of this book- THEY'RE NOT REAL MEN. So who am I to say blue alien avatar men don't act like that? Seems totally plausible to me.

Now to the story- I felt a little thrown off right at first because you aren't "eased into" the alien abduction thing. In fact, it happened off-page before the book starts. So that seemed just a tiny bit choppy for me. But as soon as Georgie is charging up out of that downed ship to protect her lady friends (my kinda badass!) and meets up with her lovely blue man- I am totally over being mad about that.

I ADORED that they couldn't understand each other (in fact, I maybe would have preferred there wasn't the 'instant fix' for that, though I understand from an author perspective how that was needed), but it made for good tension and some hilarious moments. The sex was hot. And while maybe I curled my lip at all the "mate to make a kit" stuff, I still kept flipping pages and getting more and more excited at the idea of the other ladies getting a blue man of their very own. Especially Liz who I have a girl crush on.

So, yes, I loved this. Onto the next! (I got no work done today FYI and I am totally fine with that becuase this got me out of my book slump!) ...more

The story itself was okay, because it had me laughing quite a bit. The problem for me is that I'm so used to humaniod aliens that I couldn't find anything attractive (appearance wise) about Valtek.

That is only superficial I know, because he was exactly what I like in a hero in all other ways.

Not sure what Georgie's life was like on Earth, but she took to leading the ladies like a pro. Always glad to see a strong hero get a lady (in name only because she can cuss like a sailor) who is just as s ...more
