Not going to say much. But I love Tate, any man that can bond with a pretty cat has to be awesome!

Love Lauren, it is amazing to watch her grow and "find" herself with the help of Tate, and she was funny, loved when she re named Tate's cat

Hmm. I dunno how to rate this one. I am going to go with a 4.25 because it was definitely good and, despite being super lengthy, didn't get boring... but I just didn't... love it. It's hard to get over a hero that calls the heroine "old, fat, and sorry-assed" upon first meeting her. Doesn't matter how sweet he got later on, that nagged at me the whole time. ...more

2018 review: Wow. It's been three years since I originally read this book. This time around, I listened to it on audio book. Emma Taylor, the narrator, does an excellent job with the male voices and she gives terrific characterizations to all the females as well.

This is the story of a suburban divorcee looking for peace. She finds it in the most unlikely of places--a small mountain town in Colorado that has more motorcycle shops than grocery stores and one bar--that caters to bikers. Forty-two year old Lauren checks into the local motel that isn't all that but it is clean, has flowers and a sparkling pool, and walks into the bar to apply for a job.

Hop onto the emotional rollercoaster because it gets crazy from there.

I wish I could figure out how Ms. Ashley does it. I hate "this is now and oh by the way, I'm going to sum up the past three weeks in this long narrative" followed by a return to the present. Except I DON'T hate it when she does it. She just makes it work. Beautifully. *scratches head* She has a gift. I enjoy her older characters and I appreciate that her characters act like adults. They get mad over stupid stuff. They get made over important stuff. But they talk. They think. They work things out. Her males are all alpha in all the ways that might rub some people the wrong way. I'm a strong, independent woman and I adore her alpha males. (See my previous review re: Tate.) Even with the secrets Tate held back, I still fell for him. I'll admit, though, that I might have strangled him if he was mine.

[Original 2015 review] I have one word for this book: Tate. Best new book boyfriend of the year. And Lauren was awesome. They're good together. I'm jealous. Because...TATE! *fans face* ...more

Ms. Ashley writes compelling stories that need a heavy hand with an editor. Some of her writing quirks are just too much. The cutsey nicknames. The use of "babe" and "sorry" as a complete sentences. Jumping around the timeline and, bizarrely enough, jumping around points of view for only the last chapter are unique to this story and unwelcome. Where Ms. Ashley shines is in fleshing out her secondary characters and in building a believable small town atmosphere. Her stories are interesting and he ...more

More of a 3.5 book for me...
don´t get me wrong, I liked it, i really did, but it felt really slow paced...
I liked the way Laurie and Tate developed their relationship, it had all the Kristen Ashley signature on it.. But it was not over the top swxy, or over the top romantic... It simply was nice...
And the serial killer thing seemed a Little bit been there done that for me....
But an overall good read...
