3 ½ stars. Different. Violent. Uncomfortable. No fidelity. Romantic ending was barely happy.

I was interested. It was captivating, but it did not feel good. This is not a comfort read.

Deuce falls in love with Eva, but he doesn’t do things you do when you love someone. He will have sex with Eva, get angry about something, walk out the door, and five minutes later have sex with another female. Eva walks out and sees them. One of the things I love about romance novels is the hero desiring and devote 3 ½ stars. Different. Violent. Uncomfortable. No fidelity. Romantic ending was barely happy.

It's interesting to be part of this type of biker community. These guys deal in drugs, guns, murder, and some go to jail. All women are property - usable, tradable, throwable. All women (including wives) are called bitches. Lots of swearing - the f-word almost every sentence. All married men (except Frankie) have frequent sex on the side.

I’m reminded of Jaid Black books about societies on other planets where women are property or sex toys. Those were entertaining and sexy. This book had more of an abusive feel.

There were two rape scenes.

Someone had a baby and the author did not tell us who the father was. That bothered me.

The heroine is flawed. She’s a doormat. She takes abuse. I can accept that. I don’t have to admire every heroine. But my problem is I don’t know why these men loved her. She didn’t do anything for that love. Deuce fell in love with her when she was five; she smiled, gave Deuce her peanuts, and was charming like a five-year-old. I was jealous because she was so physically beautiful that she didn’t have to do anything and men fell obsessively in love with her at first sight and it lasted for decades. I want some quality besides beauty - positive or negative.

Most of the story is first person Eva. Other parts are third person Deuce which I liked. The story takes place over many years. Eva goes from age 5 to 35. Deuce is 18 years older than Eva.
