Side Jobs reminded me why I don't usually do anthologies. Short stories generally aren't my preferred format, but also because I don't often find the stories coming across naturally. Many of the ones in this book were written to form around a theme, not to really further the characters or the overall story.

I liked the short stories in this book. They defiantly got better the more you progressed through. My favourite had to be 'Its my birthday too'. This story centers on Harry trying to give his brother a birthday present, and in all normal Harry style, it goes quickly FUBAR.
I found the first story lack the easy style of the books so far in the series but then it was the first attempt so fair enough.

This definitely made the "starting over and explaining a lot of things" problem that the Dresden books have even worse due to the short story nature. There are some amazing character stories though specifically the ones involving Thomas, Michael and Murphy. We even get to have stories that don't feature Dresden as the point of view. How crazy is that.
