Good, not great, but promising a next step into the connectiveness of the cosmere, which I totally dig.
There is very little that needs to be said about Shadows of Self, other than it's better than The Alloy of Law. High praise indeed.
Where The Alloy of Law could easily be enjoyed as a standalone novel, this time I feel you would of had to have read the original Mistborn trilogy. Too much happens that requires that backstory. That's an easy price to pay, because as the adventures of Wax & Wayne continue, so does the excellent storytelling.

There was a lot about this book I enjoyed, with the magic and incredibly animated descriptions and creative usages of the three MC's magic. As before, I loved Wayne and his humor, though it felt a little less to me than in the first book. The hyper-focus on religion here didn't work for me as much and as a result the 'bad guy' and the religious aspect had me a little bored. The ending saved it for me.
