I absolutely adored this book! Foolishly, I'd avoided reading this book for a while due to the sheer amount of hype surrounding it and the usual disappointment that accompanies reading those "flavour of the month" novels, but I'm so glad to say it completely lived up to the hype.

The Help isn't just a book, it's an inspiration. It is not just about racism, it's a story of endurance and struggle. Right from the style of writing to the whole concept of the story, everything was unique. There was not a moment when I felt as if I can't take anymore of it or I should take a break. This is one book that completely lived up to its hype. The portrayal of attitudes of the time felt honest and unbiased (except for my own opinions on the treatment of fellow humans), and I really appreciated the different voices of the three main characters. I did find the sudden 3rd person voice during the League party to be disconcerting, though. I highly recommend the audiobook, as the narrators are superb, and bring each character to life.
