A collection of four longish short stories by King, includes: 1922, Big Driver, Fair Extension, and A Good Marriage. 1922 involves a murder and the slowly developing insanity of the murderer. Pretty standard stuff, with some pretty gruesome imagery. Big Driver was probably the most interesting tale, although it involves a rape, which was very unpleasant, and then the rape victim seeking revenge, which was satisfying. I was a Stephen King fan in high school and shortly thereafter, then I moved on and never really went back until now. This book is extremely harsh, 4 stories about revenge in various forms. This is a book you will feel that you need to share with other people because it's like a secret, a secret that hurts to keep to yourself. Read at your own risk, and enjoy. ...more

Probably one of King's best short story collections, for certain. I loved the dark tone of all four stories and was really surprised at how deeply King went into exploring human nature. These weren't stories about monsters and super villains - they were just stories about people, reacting to life in their own way. ...more
