Not really a review, I guess, but I wanted to explain why I gave this book (my other favorite series by sjm) 4 stars. I usually give my 5 stars to book that really touched my heart and this one did. But, gah, there are so many scenes of Tamlin (the Tool) and I. Just. Hate. It. I hate that guy. He’s so boring and he’s actually the reason why I started this series late.

I started and stopped reading this book several times. It starts out slow and I found the writing a little wordy and tedious. But then I finally stuck with it and eventually couldn’t put it down.
The female main character is very compelling: courageous, clever, resourceful. Both the MMC and FMC make big sacrifices for each other in the name of love. The fantasy world building is solid. Once I got through the first third of the book I began to understand why this series is so popular.

Yepp....I loved this book. It was fun and easy to read. I couldn't put it down! Looking forward to the next one!
