This is the book that was chosen for the 2016 genre group read. February - Romance / Chick lit.

Very good book. Hope Eleanor and Park see each other again in the future. Really hated Richie. Glad the family moved away from him. Really, really good book. Also hope Eleanor is doing okay at her new school.

I was so surprised by this book. I have previously read Fangirl by the same author and I wasn't that impressed, despite the general love that surrounded that book.

But this one? This was great.

The characters in this book are not your typical young adult characters, but they are the kind of characters each book should have. Characters that show you it's okay to be different, okay not to be just like everyone else, okay not to be model-skinny or anything of that sort.

There is so much i feel about this book ,it is like a memory, nostalgia ,the innocence ,the fantasies of being so young and experiencing so many things and let me tell you that am not that old myself but i dont recollect feeling like this but this writer just reminded me of everything teenage is about and that is why i love reading .the last time i read a book like it was The perks of being a wallflower by stephen chhobsky- and i loved it so much
there are many reasons why i love this book

there are many reasons why i love this book

1) this isnt your regular high school romance ! the guy isnt freaking hot and the girl isnt popular or a whiny oh-so-smartass ,this isn't about love triangles or cheating or die hard romance ... ITS REAL !! the characters aren't cliche and so is the plot.it is very regular and down to earth story with one or the other incidents almost everybody can recollect from their school times.

2)this isn't aimed to make you feel good or bad ,it isnt a huge cliffhanger or super tragic or sunny .It potrays exactly how life goes without any layering .

3)It made me feel everything again and i love it even though i am nothing like the characters but the writer has done an amazing job in sketching them in my mind such that i started feeing like them ... even at times when the incidents are trivial which would have made me yawn if it was the case of some other novel .this book hooked me

This is a very young and a mature book at the same time ,Eleanor is very much a regular teenager but she isn't dumb and irrational .. she accepts the realities of life no matter how they hurt. this book is about young love and life ,it is philosophical i should say to an extent but yet hopeful
i really liked some quotes from this novel because i just love it when an author elaborates like that

“Holding Eleanor's hand was like holding a butterfly. Or a heartbeat. Like holding something

complete, and completely alive.”

“He made her feel like more than the sum of her parts.”

and i could not stop myself from adding this cute photo i found on the internet and it is also one of my favourite scene from the book

“She only came back when she felt like it, anyway, in dreams and lies and broken-down déjà vu.”

The characters in this book are bizarre, and accurately described:
Eleanor: half Scottish, half Danish, crazy red curled hair, fat, freckled skin, green eyes, weird style.
Park: half Korean and very much look like a Korean, dark black hair, wears black shirts most of the time, not fat and as tall as Eleanor, yellow skin, green eyes, wears eyeliner to look dark- "Stupid Asian kid." "Stupid, perfect Asian ...more

Why do Asian males ALWAYS have to be half white in order to be considered attractive and desirable? It's like that's the only way they could possibly be main characters is if they're half-white and have some physical attribute that indicates their white blood (Day from Legend has BLONDE HAIR AND BLUE EYES, for crying out loud!).
