Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) in The Wide Web of Friends in YA Books

The first time I read this book, I wasn't on Goodreads so I didn't review it and let the world know about how much I love it. Or this series in general. Its been about two years since I read it so I needed a refresher. It was just as good the second time around. Honestly I wasn't sure if I was going to like it because I already knew how the series ends but I still enjoyed it. 100/5 stars.

Writing:

Writing:
If you know me, you'll know that I am not usually fond of the third person writing style. But Cassie Clare does it right. With a story like this, there are so many sides to it, so many characters with their own thoughts that it must be third person. How else would you get to see into Will's head and get a glimpse at how he sees the world. How else would we get to see the discussion Charlotte had with Mortmain? This world is so complex that it cannot be contained into one POV and I like that both of Clare's series are written in 3rd person.

I will admit that the book is hard to get into. You need to give it 100 pages or so for the story to come alive. Once you learn more about the characters, once the problem arises, the action begins. There are fight scenes that are written beautifully and with so much detail, its as if you're watching a movie not reading a book. I can picture exactly what is going on. Cassandra Clare is also amazing at descriptions. I always have an image in my mind about what the setting looks like. She also writes the descriptions of the characters' appearances very well. Again, I can picture the characters clearly.

Characters:
I liked Tessa. She is fierce and determined. She is not like Clary. I liked her more than Clary because she thought about things. She thought things through and wasn't impulsive. The trick she payed on Mortmain at the end with the knife was thoughtful and clever. When she wanted to find and save her brother, she was going to do it and nobody was going to stop her. I liked that about her.

I also really like Jem. He is so sweet and kind. I love the relationship he has with Will. Again, I can't help but compare their relationship to Alec and Jace's in TMI. Alec and Jace were never as close as Jem and Will. While Jem doesn't know everything about Will they love each other like brothers. And their love is more evident than that of Jace and Alec. Anyway Jem was patient, caring and just downright the kind of guy you can't help but love. And I did love him. Just not as much as...

WILL. WILLIAM HERONDALE what you do to me. I know what a lot of people think about Will after reading the first book. "Ugh he is such a jerk why does Tessa even like him?" But honestly, I've loved Will since the beginning. To those of you who don't like him, read the next book before making up your mind. Yes he is a jerk but there is obviously something about him that we don't know. Something has happened to him to make him this way. And he has his moments like in the carriage ride to de Quincey's and the sanctuary at the end when he lets his wall crumble just a little. At this point, I could not wait to read the next book to find out why he went to Magnus. He is also hilarious. The things he said made me crack up and I enjoy someone humorous. He my all time favorite book boyfriend because he is just perfect! But of course everyone has their own opinions.

If you couldn't tell I ship WESSA so hard! But I'm not completely against Jessa. Its more like 80% Wessa and 20% Jessa.

So to wrap things up, this book is amazing. It has a really unique and cool plot, amazing characters, and action. What more could you want? Once I got past the slow beginning, I could not put this book down even the second time I read it. Its so good and I like this series better than TMI. And I love TMI so that's saying a lot. I was BLOWN AWAY!

This action and magic packed book kept me up all night. I can’t stop thinking about it and what would happen next. The story is interesting and the twists were just mind boggling! As soon as I was near the end of the book I immediately bought its sequel, the Clockwork Prince. I'm so glad I that the trilogy is now finish, I wouldn't need to suffer and wait for the next book.

I was enthralled by this story. The way the author incorporated the world of the Shadowhunters with the 19th Century world was very well crafted and very enticing. I found it somewhat difficult to read at first and put it down for several months before - on a whim - picking it up again and thanking God I did. Clockwork Angel , and by-in-large The Infernal Devices series is a hop, skip and a boat ride way better than the Mortal Instruments. From the first word, to the last, I absolutely loved this book. While I really shouldn't have, I made huge comparisons between this and City of Bones, and there were overall improvements.
