From the get-go, I was sucked back into the Shadowhunter world because of how easy to read Cassandra Clare's writing style is. The story, in itself, is easy to get into, and the execution was well done. I like the dynamics between the characters too, especially with the huge cast of characters. I greatly appreciate the balance given to each character's exposure and impact on the plot. Although I predicted the twist, I enjoyed how it all unfolded. I feel like this book was very similar to City of Bones in the way it was set up. The plot and character development took on a familiar pace. Like COB, I didn't love the book because i feel like we only get to scratch the surface with this story and these characters, but I did very much enjoy it! Those clockwork creatures were so weird and creepy! And Tessa! I think I like Tessa more than I like Clary. I just connect with her better. And these boys! OH! I like them both so much already! This was an amazing story. I am glad I finally found the time to read it. I am a huge fan of The Mortal Instruments series and loved this book. I do think the writing was a bit better in this series that than Cassandra Clares previous series.

Overall I would reccommend this book to friends.
