What Members Thought

From the start I was hooked on this book. The character is not what I expected but her struggles are so compelling. I was surprised how the little girl in me got wrapped up in this age old fairytale and the adult side of me was thoroughly pleased with the intricate plot line. I can't wait to read the next one!

The world Marissa Meyer built was great. The story is set in New Beijing long after World War IV, where a plague is flourishing and the alien Lunar people are a looming threat, but also in a time where culture and technology are thriving and world peace has been present for some time. This is a universe of ID chips and hovercrafts and global unity so, in a way, it's kind of a utopian dystopia.

This is the book that was chosen for the 2016 group alternate read. February - Young Adult.

I had seen this book everywhere. At the bookstore and in libraries. So, when I saw that there was a group read with this book, I thought I should finally read it. Also, I had book recommendations from Andrea and Kate. I got it and then read the book sypnosis. The book sypnosis made me think it was stupid. I grudgingly started reading it. Cinder is a fairy-tale re-telling that is a cross-over of (the traditional fairy-tale) Cinderella, Star Wars and Astro Boy. Yes! It did remind me a bit of all three and, needless to say; I LOVED IT! .
I had chosen the audiobbok which was brilliantly narrated. The way Rebecca Soler (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly?)portrayed the characters voices added depth (and made it fun to listen to). I imagined it play out(in anime-mode)and it made it even better.

This book was fantastic in both plot, writing and characters. I felt real emotions for all the things Cinder was going through and she was easy to sympathise with.
I'm just hoping that Scarlet continues the story of Cinder and Emperor Kai, since another plot line will be introduced.
I refuse to be deprived of my Cinder and Kai fix for a whole book! ...more

This was sooo Amazing!!! I loved every page of this book!
I haven't read a lot of sci-fiction, but this book makes me want to read more of that genre. I loved the whole retelling of Cinderella. I was soo not expecting that end.
I loved Cinder, Kai, Peony, Iko, and Dr. Erland, the whole book, the story, everything.
I couldn't and didn't wanted to stop reading! The whole world that Marissa created was incredible.
Simply put this book deserves more that 5 stars
I recommend it to EVERYONE.

I don't even know what to say right now. I'll probably make a proper review whenever I have enough time. But right now, I'll leave you with some of my reactions:

Btw, Kai's just perfect

Ok, I'll go read the next book right now because I NEED to know what happens next.
Oh, before I forget, Dr. Erland is simply the best character ever.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"] ...more
