I have been staring at my keyboard trying to write something for a while now. I just don't know what to write. I am an emotional mess right now. Excuse me while I cry over the fact that one of my favorite trilogies has ended.

Let me just say I didn't love The Retribution as much as I loved The Unbecoming and The Evolution. It was different from what I had expected and it was still SO good.

The word “awesome” isn’t big enough to describe this book.

Throughout the book I laughed and cried, was intrigued and shocked, amused and amazed. My heart broke many times, I even had a hysterics but in the end everything was beautiful and glorious. This is a genuine roller coaster of emotions. And what a beautiful ending… God, I haven’t read such marvelous endings in a long time. This one is complete, without any cliffhangers or unanswered questions (maybe except for one), and really happy. And The word “awesome” isn’t big enough to describe this book.

And what an interesting and unusual idea it is to present the whole story as a fiction written by the main character. The plot is twisted and sometimes really unexpected and unpredictable.

The development of characters and relationships is great in this book. The friendship between Mara and Jamie is adorable and hilarious. They have the same sense of humour and they often banter with each other. These dorks… I loved Mara’s development throughout this book. She was so furious at the beginning, ready to kill anyone just to get Noah back. She loves Noah, Jamie and her family so much she would do everything to protect them. Actually Mara is my hero. I don’t have much to say about Noah again because he’s just perfect. Mara is perfect, Noah is perfect, they’re a perfect couple and I’ll ship them forever.

As for unanswered questions, there is one about Mara’s grandmother. I didn't quite understand in what time she lived. When she moved to London there wasn't electricity there and she knew Elliot – Noah’s great-grandfather – when he was only eight, so a lot of time has passed. And the professor has been living even longer, for centuries maybe. So what, they don’t age? Actually it would be good, if it was so, because in this way Mara and Noah could live together forever.

The whole trilogy is fantastic. I loved the plot because it’s really extraordinary and I haven’t read anything like that before. All the characters are shown vividly, the plot is fascinating, the books are written excellently, the ending is gorgeous, and that’s why this trilogy is pure perfection. I will remember the beautiful last words of the last book for a long time:

“This is a love story. Twisted and messy. Flawed and screwed up. But it’s ours. It’s us. I don’t know how our story will end, but I know how it will start. I pick up my pen and begin to write.
My name is not Mara Dyer, but my lawyer told me I had to choose something.”

This series was absolutely amazing!! I was pulled into this series from the very beginning. I can't thank my best friend enough for stressing how excellent this series was. This was a great ending to an already excellent story.

I loved the paranormal twist to this trilogy is really what drew me in and held my interest. It made the story that much better, and set it apart from the traditional young adult romance.

My least favorite of the trilogy but was still good. The ending was really good but I just didn't feel like everything was wrapped up (some loose ends) and the stuffy that was was kinda confusing (genes?!?). Still a good end to the series though. ...more
