I've put off reading Anna Dressed in Blood for quite some time. My first reason was because it was too hyped and I find that most books that receive a lot of praise fall short to my expectations. The second reason was because it's a series and I rarely start a new series with only one book released.

Anyways, I succumbed and downloaded the book, mainly because I ran out of things to read. Plus, it's a different genre of paranormal, there are not many books out there about killer ghosts as one the MCs.

The story started really good, fast paced, suspenseful, and gory. Until half of the book I was sure it deserved a solid 4 stars. But things changed once we discovered how Anna was murdered and the reason she became a killing machine. Cas somehow frees her from the curse of killing people and she is no longer bound to the house. However, Cas doesn't complete his mission. He doesn't kill Anna because all of the sudden he falls in love with her.

I want to say that I didn't see it coming but that would be a lie. I knew that the hero would fall for Anna. However, I didn't expect the romance to feel so forced and unbelievable. I was so silly the connection Cas felt for Anna and vice-versa and it totally turned a descent story into poop.

Cas turned from a likeable hero, to a mumbling, pathetic idiot. If I had to compare him to another character, I would say that Cas turned into Bella. It was just awful and I completely lost interest in the story.

It could be as well that after it was revealed that Anna was killed and cursed by her own mother the story fell flat. There weren't any more build-ups or twists and turns that this type of book needs. The villain was just plain boring, and the way Cas dealt with him was sort of underwhelming as well.

The best characters were Thomas and Carmel and their budding romance deserved more attention than what Cas and Anna shared. I hated how the word 'love' was just shoved at us readers. How could Cas love Anna, they didn't spend enough time together for that to have happened. Plus, them together was kind of gross. No Demi/Patrick moment here.

So, I can't bring myself to give more than 2 stars to it and I probably won't read the sequel cause I have the feeling Cas is going to be all emo about losing his girlfriend who was already dead. ...more

I've always been fond of scary stuff. Movies, tv shows, books... cause I'm looking for the one that will make me lose sleep for a week. This book isn't it but it was a really fun read. The characters are great and entertaining. I love Anna, of course. Yes, even Will! Creepy, bloody at times with a sprinkle of hilarious moments, this is a real page-turner. ...more

Anna Dressed in Blood is one of those stories that can instantly make you love it in everyway and when I had just finished reading it, I was like wanting to give myself a mental kick 'coz how could I have not read such a super-duper-incredible-damn-freaking-awesome-superb story! :D Yep! Might even be a 4.5 I really enjoyed this book!! It’s funny, scary, and unique. Does have a bit of vulgar language which makes it more suited to older teens or adults, as well as some gory, gross parts. But, I really loved all of the characters, loved Cas’ relationship with his mother and his interactions with people at the new school. Loved the fun references in this book, too! Okay so it would be a four had the kid not loved the f word so much! But as far as story goes it was spooky to the max so if your in the mood for a little spicy scary this may be for you! :)
