I love the fact that we actually got to see Josh and Isla dating for quite a while unlike other Stephanie Perkins books where the romance comes just as the book is closing. 4.5*** As lovely as always, this book will make you want to move to Paris asap, find a cute, preferably artistic, boyfriend and wonder around La Cité d'Amour. I loved Isla and Josh's relationship at the start - it was as endearing and entertaining to read about as the other two in the series - and my only criticism is that their relationship seemed to move unrealistically fast, which kind of made the middle of the book a bit sickeningly loved-up. Before I read Anna and the french kiss I disliked contemporary. I had only read The Fault in Our Stars and Will Grayson Will Grayson. Both of which made me feel bad and I personally didn't like.

However Anna and the french kiss and Lola and the boy next door made me feel happy and I always enjoyed it. I finished Anna and Lola only a few weeks before Isla came out.

This book was great! I loved the romance between Isla and Josh. But, for some reason, I didn't get that unable to put it down feeling that I get when I read a five star book. 4/5 stars for this one.

Writing
I'm going to start with the writing. I love Stephanie Perkins' writing. She describes everything. Where the characters are, what they're wearing, etc. The image of Josh and Lola on their first date is so clear. Or Josh and Lola in Barcelona. Her writing also includes amazing thoughts from t This book was great! I loved the romance between Isla and Josh. Writing
I'm going to start with the writing. I love Stephanie Perkins' writing. She describes everything. Where the characters are, what they're wearing, etc. The image of Josh and Lola on their first date is so clear. Or Josh and Lola in Barcelona. Her writing also includes amazing thoughts from the characters that are hilarious. I will definitely be reading any books that Stephanie Perkins writes.

Plot
The pacing of this story was pretty good. At times, it was a little slow, unlike any of Perkins' other books. Nonetheless things happened in this book. I do love that Josh and Isla went on a date fairly quickly. Anna and Lola are books dedicated to the development of a relationship and the characters coming to terms with their feelings. In Isla, the two both already like each other. So they go on a date and it all starts from there. The rest of the book is simply the ups and downs of their relationship. I could not believe what happened in the car after Josh's party (where Isla met his parents). I honestly didn't understand why Isla was saying all those things. She was very insecure at that point and it bothered me. But there was a climax and it was one heck of a climax. I kept flipping the pages dying to see how it was going to play out.

Characters
Isla: I liked Isla. She is impulsive but for her, its a good and bad thing. Good when she talked to Josh over the summer in Manhattan and when she asked Josh out on a date rather than him ask her. Bad when she was rambling in the car with Josh. I did love her friendship with Kurt. I admired her and Kurt for building such a strong bond when most people would've pitied him. I also couldn't help but love her sense of style. Its so girly and the closest of out all three girls (Anna, Lola, Isla) to my style.

Josh: I loved Josh. Just as I loved Cricket and Etienne. He was so cute. He had his problems but he dealt with them in his own way. In the beginning when he was just as flustered around Isla as she around him, I found it adorable. His drawing and artistic vibe was also another aspect of him I liked. We know what interest him and what he does in his spare time. I like that we also see him getting a bit closer to his parents, specifically in the end when Isla was reading his memoir. He was amazing and the memoir was something I was glad was put into the book because it gives us a look into Josh's brain. I loved him as a character.

I loved the little bit that we got to see of Anna, Etienne, Lola, and Cricket. Its so cute to see all three couples together. The scene with Anna and Etienne at point zero was amazingly wonderfully fantastic. Those two were always my favorite couple and they still are. I loved that we got that ending for them. Also when Isla noticed that Lola and Cricket needed to touch each other, I had this big grin on my face because they are just too cute.

Overall Opinion
So if you skipped the rest of my review, I loved this book. It was fluffy, romantic and included some great characters. There was drama and conflict and complications to the happily ever after that keep this book interesting. But I didn't love it as much as Anna and Lola so it got a 4 out of 5 stars ...more

I'm sad that I had to take such a long break while reading this book because of school. I think it took away from the experience of reading it, but regardless, I did enjoy it.

The timing of the events in this novel was pretty spaced out at some parts. Usually I'm not a huge fan when books do that, but it made sense for this book. The book dealt with conflict within a relationship and it shows that not every relationship is perfect.

My rating is 3.5 stars! ♥ (I finally got around to saying something about it lmao)

I absolutely loved Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door, so this one is definitely my least favourite. The romance in this book just felt so rushed at the beginning and it was unbelievable how quickly they started a relationship, but hey, I like romance, and it was definitely a change from Anna and the French Kiss. Go and read all three if you want easy, enjoyable, cute reads!! ♥
