This is probably one of my new favourites, it's just so sweet and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, I just couldn't help but love it.

This was one of the best 'Coming Of Age' books I've ever read! Sure many things here are common to coming-of-age stories -there's first love and family drama etc- but Fangirl is also about writing, and being a fan, and how being a social misfit in college feels. The characters, the story, her college experience, the universe of fandoms&fanfictions- everything felt real.
I know how Cath feels, I've been there, sometimes I still go there. Being a fan, being a part of a fandom is such a dif ...more

I generally liked this book a lot!
Things I liked:
- LEVI LEVI LEVI *smiles widely* I've never read about someone so happy and it just worked so well with me!
- How Cath explained why she was a nerd and loved fiction and fan fiction. It made a lot of sense and it made it easier to sympathize with our characters.
Things I disliked:
- Cath and Wren. Mostly Cath but Wren too because I just found it too hard to sympathize for them. It was just hard for me to accept that Cath was so stubborn to accept c ...more

I love reading. I wouldn't be writing a lit blog if I didn't. When a book is good, it's magic. And sometimes, once or twice a year, I read a book that reminds me why I love reading. A book that makes me gush and cry and laugh and stay up all night reading, not the last bit sleepy, not even considering "I'll read just this chapter and then I'll turn off the light", because it's so good.
"Fangirl" wasn't one of those books. It was ...more

I remember reading a review of this by Becky at Blog of a Bookaholic and I quite liked the idea of the story. When I stood in WHSmith waiting to fly out to Florida in the summer, looking for another book to complete my 3 for 2 offer, I saw this and thought 'why not'?
And then, I carried it to the US and back without reading it and placed it into the dreaded bedside table, where it ultimately became part of my challenge to clear out that book eating piece of furniture.

Spell "RELATE"... I-N-A-H.
Where would I even start?
Cather Avery is a big Simon Snow fan, which I'm pretty sure is pretty comparable to the many Potterheads around, including me. For all we know, Simon Snow and GTL was based from Harry Potter and JK Rowling.
Cather likes to write fanfiction and her work, "Carry On, Simon" is one of the most followed fanfics in the whole universe. I have written a fanfiction, myself.
Cath is in college. Like me, except she's a freshman, I'm a junior. I don't have ...more

I loved it. This book is for anyone who has ever been in love with a book, or a series or certain characters while they were growing up and eventually felt like they needed to move on because they were older now. To me, that was the best message in the book. Rainbow Rowell tells us that we're never too old to love books and when we get older, it's still okay to love that book that made such a difference in your life when you were ten years old.
