I stayed up entirely too late reading this book.

The minions of the title castle is eager to greet the new Master. After all, the Board has already given a pile of extensions and has indicated there will be no more, but the ravens have said the new master is finally coming.

Turns out she's rather small. And young. But Molly can make herself invisible and is ready to tackle the tasks to become the Master. And has the invitation. (Which, we, but not the minions, soon learn, she took.) She meets the

Wow. A long time fan of Ursula Vernon from her work on the graphic series Digger. Castle Hangnail at first glance is a book for young adults. It is about young adults, and certainly meant for young adults. But like Vernon's other work, the themes are much more mature than the trappings in which they are presented. We once lived in a world in which this book would have been unremarkable -- but now, a work in which the protagonist may have her gifts, but finds the world a much bigger place than sh ...more

Charming and different. Many adults will figure out the ending about halfway through, but there are interesting twists and turns on the way to it.

Whimsical and delightful. A plucky young lady steps up and tries for something she wants and deserves. Friendship, growth, self-discovery. Sheer fun.
