An excellent volume in the series. Bond becomes more "human" with each story. His success is never a sure thing and the demons he has to contend with certainly play a part in it. This book is a story of revenge set in 1960s Japan with one of the most delightful characters that 007 ever worked with, Tiger Tanaka.

I enjoyed this book. The bulk of the story was spent on character development, as Bond tried to rebound from the murder of his wife in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. This journey takes him through the heart of Japan and exposes some of its culture and rituals. It is definitely a stark contrast with Bond's usual locations in Europe and the Caribbean.
