Probably the weakest of all his early Pitt novels. To my way of thinking, the whole Dirk Pitt saga only had a VERY brief window when it was EVER any good. That stint lasted perhaps 4-5 works. It was fumbling and juvenile when it began (Iceberg, Vortex, etc) and then it was briefly robust (say, from 'Mediterranean Caper' through to 'Deep Six') and thereafter--well, its just astonishing that he would keep this silly series going.
