November Man was a dynamite start for the now-deceased ex-Chicago newspaperman Bill Granger. Its protagonist, Devereaux, became the star of a long-running series for the author. November Man was written prior to the great technical advances we’re now so familiar with, but old-school tradecraft, exciting action, and violence abounds to compensate for the missing whir of computers and cctv. Average spy story. I had trouble remembering the plot when I put down the book--not a good sign. And the key incident still makes no sense. Lots of odds and ends trailed off.
