DNF.

I'm sorry, this book was legit boring. This is the first Heyer book I actively gave up on and it pains my heart... I just felt like the story dragged on and on, and the characters that were propelling the story weren't doing much for it.

I agree with other reviewers - too much mother. Not enough banter between hero and heroine - which is Heyer's specialty. So, all in all, disappointing. Started off great - ended, well, meh. ...more

I liked the story line, but it felt a little slow sometimes. I wanted more at the end also. I felt like there was a lot left unsaid. Maybe there is a sequel?

Heyer has such a great talent for dialogue. This problem with this book is that the main character spends a bunch of time talking to his Mother and Valet. The main characters barely interact and fall in love after only a few meetings and very little dialogue. Actually, Kit and his twin brother Evelyn were really the main characters. I can't even remember the name of the girl and I don't care enough to go find it. It was a fun story but I would have liked more interaction between the couple. ...more

This is a light-hearted regency romance. The romance part of the book develops quickly and isn't main point of the story, it exists to provide a dilemma in which all the main characters must try to solve. A simple, straightforward story that doesn't take itself too seriously. ...more
