DNF.
I'm sorry, this book was legit boring. This is the first Heyer book I actively gave up on and it pains my heart... I just felt like the story dragged on and on, and the characters that were propelling the story weren't doing much for it.
Maybe someone else will enjoy it more than I did? That being said, every author has their book that doesn't quite cut it in terms of some readers. I'm also coming to the part where I've read all her 'hits' and her 'sleeper hits'. It was only time until I foun ...more

I agree with other reviewers - too much mother. Not enough banter between hero and heroine - which is Heyer's specialty. So, all in all, disappointing. Started off great - ended, well, meh.

Heyer has such a great talent for dialogue. This problem with this book is that the main character spends a bunch of time talking to his Mother and Valet. The main characters barely interact and fall in love after only a few meetings and very little dialogue. Actually, Kit and his twin brother Evelyn were really the main characters. I can't even remember the name of the girl and I don't care enough to go find it. It was a fun story but I would have liked more interaction between the couple.

This is a light-hearted regency romance. The romance part of the book develops quickly and isn't main point of the story, it exists to provide a dilemma in which all the main characters must try to solve. A simple, straightforward story that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Totally lost my interest, I couldn't finish it.
