In the beginning we meet Teresa, she is Jonathan’s sister from Songs of Submission. This series is a stand alone, so you don’t have to have read SOS to enjoy this series. However, it begins in the nightclub when Teresa is with Jonathan listening to Monica sing. Now I am dork, but I love when books do this, because it is like you get to see what is going on in everyone’s life at the same time.

Teresa and her fiancé Daniel have just broken up, he was caught cheating on her.

She meets Antonio, Spin, that first night at the club and while she is instantly attracted to him, it appears she is just another woman to Spin. Until he arranges for them to meet again.

These two couldn’t be more different, she lived a privileged life, dated the District Attorney for years, and has basically always made the “right” choice her whole life. Spin is involved in organized crime and lives a life full of danger, despite their difference there is just something between them that neither of them can deny.

I have read a lot of books that were steamy hot, it is pretty much a perquisite for me, but these two together are burning down the town hot. I am not sure if it is the organized crime, sneaky around, but there is just something so hot about Spin and Teresa. Their relationship may begin with hot sex in public places, but it actually develops into a real connection.

Teresa has to decide if she wants to give up the safety and comfort she has known for years, and take a risk with a dangerous man. Even if she does, is Spin up for bringing her along into his world?

I really enjoyed this story, it is an extremely quick read, but I felt is started out slow. I didn’t love reading about Teresa’s job and the movie industry, but I think that was probably just my impatience at wanting to see Spin again. In the end, it is a very intriguing read and I can tell how everyone gets hooked with the many different things going on. ...more

I'm a huge fan of CD Reiss. Her Songs of Submission series is perfection! So of course I was excited to read this book. I'm also a huge Mario Puzo and Sopranos fan and when I found out that this book would be Mafia themed, my excitement metre shot through the roof!

I'm not exactly sure how to rate this book. The story really pulled me in. It was intriguing, mysterious, hot, action-packed and well-paced. I am definitely continuing with the series.

BUT - that's a big BUT right there. Look, this is the first book I've read of Miss Reiss who has quite a following. She obviously has a writing style...I am a big fan of beautiful writing - mainly of lyrical prose. But Miss Reiss' writing style at times reminded me of myself in college writing papers with ...more

When I saw this book while browsing mafia/mob like stories like Otherwise Alone, I got excited (did a little dance) because I've been trying to find more good mafia reads and bad ass heroes like Evan Arden. I wanted to take a break from the usual brooding billionaire alpha males who had abusive past blah blah blah.
