In two words? FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC WRITING. And yeah I made the first word up, but really, there is no more apt way to describe this series. This installment may have been my favorite so far and just as I predicted, I'm feeling more and more connected to the characters already.

CD Reiss' masterstroke was her decision to delve into Jonathan's POV in this book. Whereas before we saw Jonathan only through Monica's eyes, and knew him as very guarded, very restrained man, we now get to expe 4.5 out of 5

CD Reiss' masterstroke was her decision to delve into Jonathan's POV in this book. Whereas before we saw Jonathan only through Monica's eyes, and knew him as very guarded, very restrained man, we now get to experience his thoughts and emotions as he finds himself falling deeper and deeper for her. I thought that was brilliant, and very unexpected. This is all about how he feels himself losing control, going down a dangerous path that has only lead to heartbreak and humilliation before. After all, Jessica took his heart, chewed it up and spit it back at him, for everybody in their social circle to see. I think this is why I felt Jonathan's conflict to be so tangible. It makes sense that he feels himself slipping and is at odds with how to go forth.

I won't spoil anything else here, but I'll say I found what they did on their "date" to be so original and genuinely exciting. In a sea of clichès... because let's face it, these books are riddled with clichés top to bottom, I thought that was a nice unique touch.

Also, the scene with the whipped cream... BE STILL MY HEART. Because, wow... I had to actually stop and take a breather. This rarely happens to me, to have to stop and regroup because something was so intense in a book, but it happened to me with this book. This goes back to the idea of taking something trite and writing it so fantastically well, it feels real for the very first time. CD Reiss can write the hell out of a sex scene. When Jonathan said to her "I.Own.You." Shit, I could have been a puddle of goo.

As for quotes. This book is riddled with amazing lines. I could have highlighted it all but almost half the book would have ended up in yellow. This is the bottom line, for me I think. I would be surprised if this is the first thing this author writes because there is so much maturity to her prose. It's crisp and perfectly balanced, and incredibly poetic. So despite the general unoriginality of the plot, these books only keep getting better and better and that's because the writing is freaking stellar.

I loved the alternating points of view! It was great to know what was going on for Jonathan and Monica as individuals and their own perspective on their relationship. Jonathan starts to exert more control in their relationship and they struggle with what the boundaries are outside of the bedroom. Monica is trying to find her place again in her music career, which leads her to pursuing some opportunities that really bother Jonathan. I'm looking forward to reading about what happens next!! ...more

LOVED, loved this series. Loved Jonathan Drazen. Same with Monica.

This sequence started out SO hot, I had to put it down for a bit. But that was it...I flew threw this series. Absolutely loved it!
