Safety and security are commodities you can sell in return for excitement, but you can never buy them back.Yvonne Carmichael is a geneticist, a scientist renowned in her field but one day, she makes the most irrational of decisions. While she is giving evidence to a Select Committee at the Houses of Parliament, she meets a man and has sex with him in the secluded Chapel in the Crypt. It’s the beginning of a reckless liaison, but there is more to her lover than is at first apparent – as Yvonne discovers when the affair spins out of control and leads inexorably to violence.
Apple Tree Yard is about a woman who makes one rash choice that ends up putting her on trial at the Old Bailey for the most serious of crimes. Like the highly acclaimed Whatever You Love, it is part literary investigation of personal morality, part psychological thriller.
It is so hard to fill that void when your favourite show ends :( I use to love ER (back in the day!) and I have yet to find a medical drama that fills me with so much joy!

I just finished this and it is just pure genius! I look forward to discussing! Be careful though with the spoilers!
A beautiful and distinguished family.A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
True love.
The truth.
We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from National Book Award finalist and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart.
Read it.
And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE.(
David Nichols has a new book out "Us" although can't find it yet on GR. Anyway, I love David Nichols so this has got me excited as it is his first new book since "One Day" and I bloody love that one!!!
Hello all my friends!!!! So sorry my group has been so quiet! Can we bring it back to life?? I have had a manic Summer!! I am adding some new books to read that we can hopefully all enjoy! :)
Hi Terry. As much as I loved The Book Thief (book) I didn't like the film. I didn't get the feeling of deaths presence and I hated how they didn't make Rudy and Liesel get any older looking so the part at the end where she kisses him and he should be maybe 17? , he still looked 12. But I will agree the setting and many of the characters where exactly as I had pictured them, especially the house and Rosa and Hans. I think I just wanted to feel the love between Liesel and Rudy more, as I had when I read the book.
Hi Terry, that is just like me. I think the first time I experienced this was when I read Never Let Me Go I can't even begin to describe how much that book means to me and even maybe 4 years after reading it I STILL think about those characters and I re read bits of it all time. Similarly The Lovely Bones Susie Salmon lives with me, such an amazing character to just come from a book. So any bad reviews I have read about either of these (and there's a lot of bad reviews and haters out there) my blood practically boils!! I just finished How I Live Now which I know from the many reviews I read isn't to every ones taste but it was a 5 star read for me, even with the whole cousin love thing which seemed to upset a few people. I have the film to watch tomorrow and I think they changed the story a bit but I'm hoping I will enjoy it anyway. Such a good book - I recommend! :)
Hi everyone. I seem to have had no time recently for Groups! Where does time go? I just wanted to pose a question about peoples favourite books and how it makes them feel when they read bad reviews etc.. ? I find it interesting how passionate we can become over the characters and stories we love, often as if we were defending our own family! Or is that just me? lol I read what I thought of as a terrible review of a book I adore The Help and I was actually raging about it all day!!

it is hard to describe and it has never happened to me before ... the whole cinema (maybe 200 people, all teenage girls and a few Mums, NO MEN) ...every single person as far as I could see crying!
I ADORE this book, along with so many others, so I was worried about the movie because I also ADORED The Book Thief and then the movie was so bad ( did you see it?) but anyway I shouldn't have worried because It was so good and so faithful to the book...all my favourite quotes were in it and Augustus/Hazel were just so damn cute :) I got called a fangirl recently on a goodreads "we all hate TFIOS" thread which at the time made me laugh but even though I'm 41 I'm definitely a fangirl of this book...God Bless John Green.
We are off to 'The Fault In Our Stars' movie tomorrow..my daughter is obsessed!! I am taking tissue!!
