I feel a bit odd reading books like this- ones that I guess I consider as man's books. If I wanted to borrow one off my parents' shelves they would be the type I would avoid but now I've found I actually really enjoy them. Has anyone else noticed their book tastes changing over the years?

Rachael, how did you like Atilla? I'm kind of curious about it :)"
It was good actually, it's one of the better Roman fiction books I've read. It was written with a really modern tone and the blurb said it started with two boys in the fields of Asia but that doesn't happen until right at the end but it was still good enough that I'd probably read the sequel.

Roswell is one of those series, like Friends, that I rewatch on a regular basis, though I watch Friends more often than anything else.

I love Roswell! No one else I know has ever heard of it so I'm happy to find someone that has :)
I have finished my book so hand 5 is now done!

I'm sorry this is so late! I was somewhat conned by Tess of the D'Urbervilles. When I flicked to the back it said it was 277 pages so I thought I'd whizz through, I didn't realise that was the number of pages of part two so it took me longer than I planned and I've been on holiday so not had a chance to get on here. I have now finished it.
I'm ready for my next book and can see the spreadsheet is full up so should I go for the Wild Card 4 or does someone want to trade one of their ones that they haven't read yet?

I'm very excited to be part of this challenge! I am from England and I read as much as I possibly can. I average around 3-4 books a month depending on how busy I am and I read all genres. I probably lean more towards thrillers or historical fiction and I'm not as keen on Fantasy but give everything a go.
I have hundreds of books so could match any card. Happy to take an unpopular one.
My book list is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
Some of my recent favourite books are Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China and anything written by Derek Hansen but most particularly his Lunch with Mussolini

It's mine too. I think it's a lot more exciting, has some really exciting new characters and we see a lot more character development from Harry, Ron and Hermione.

Definitely agree! She needed a bit more frizz.

I keep looking at the rest of the series on my shelf thinking 'what on earth can he make the characters go through next?!'

I was going to ask that too. How many have watched the tv series? I've been going out of my way to avoid seeing it/hearing about the series so that I can read it first.

Would you have wanted it from Harry's perspective or someone like Luna or Neville?

My favourite book used to be number 3 as it was very different from the others and gave us a break from Voldemort. However the more times I've read them, the goblet of fire has pushed its way to the front as it's so exciting and there's so much going on and then of course it finishes with Voldemorts big comeback!
For the film I'd say number 5 was great as it turned what is really a long and at times difficult book into a very exciting film.
My favourite character is Ron as he is just like any typical teenage boy who feels jealousy, struggles to fit in, too shy to tell hermione how he feels and puts up with Harry's mood swings.
The last book is fantastic but I really didn't like the last chapter with them as grown ups. For me it wasn't necessary and was just cheesy. What did anyone else think?
