I'm Veronica, and I'm very excited to play UNO with you all. This is my third year playing, second as captain. I see we have experienced players and some new ones. Don't worry, we are all here to help you sort things out. This is a fun way to torn down that big pile of TBR some might have, and to discover new and interesting reads. And of course talk about books 😁.
But also I'd love to know about you. What's been your favorite read so far this year? Please introduce yourselves, let us know your hobbies and favorite genres, all you want to share.
I'm from Mexico and a stay at home mom of three. I've been in a sabbatical for two years, and probably staying for a little longer. Besides reading I like to play guitar and cook. I like most genres but I prefer non-fiction about history, science and psychology. For fiction I like science fiction, fantasy, historical and horror.
Lets play!

I don't know if you're a S..."
Yeah, it's been a common complaint about older SF that they invested too much on the technobabble and too little on character development or plot. But Kylie is right in that Asimov really balances the futuristic feel with compelling characters, politics and adventure/quest plots. But you definitely need to be in the mood for them.

An encyclopedia volume on Viral Diseases, I was 6 or 7 years old and that prompted my mom to buy me an encyclopedia for my age, which was the Disney one they use to sell in the 80s.
📗 My favourite book growing up
Cujo by Stephen King, the first book that made me cry, so I realized how emotionally involved you can be with a book.
📒 The book that changed me as a teenager
1984/Animal Farm by George Orwell. I bought this 2 in 1 with my first allowance, and I still have it.
📕 The book I came back to
1984.
📘The book I could never read again
A little life by Hanya Yanagihara, it's a 5 star read and loved it but I don't think I should allow myself go through that again. And one really bad/tacky book I read and hated myself for reading it was Psychokillers, a non-fiction about serial killers.
📗 The book I discovered later in life
The Foundation series by Isaac Asimov.
📒The book I am currently reading
The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule
Last Call at the Hotel Imperial by Deborah Cohen
Foundation's Edge by Isaac Asimov
📕 My comfort read
I don't think I have any in particular, maybe I should look for something. Comfort is nice, and necessary.

It was a pleasure to participate in this challenge with all of you. I had fun, and I take back my assessment that my TBR list will shrink because it happened the opposite, hahaha. I hope you enjoyed the experience as much as I did. Although we finished in 10th place, we gave it all and we were a great team.
Hope to see you around!

Congrats to all for such a great job, we were a really good team 😀.
Here's the challenge finish countdown
https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...

These are the last books for the mini:
Float plan (Corina)
A Study in Scarlet (Corina)
Last Words (Veronica)
The Party Crasher (Vanessa)

Do you think you can find the page with these parts?
Your book "The Girl I Used to Be" also has this two words.
Also let us know if the books qualify for:
- someone receives an invitation (of any kind)
- featuring a famous person
Thanks!

Vanessa The Chalet (Read a book with a drink on the cover or mentioned in the text)
Vanessa The Party Crasher (Read a book where someone receives an invitation (of any kind))
Corina A Study in Scarlet (Read a book which has given another team its name *)
Jojo Crazy Brave (Read a book with one or more women and no men on the cover)
Everybody, please take a look to the tasks pending, maybe your next read can fit into any of these and have a backup just in case.
Challenge ends this Saturday!

You are right Corina, nice catch!
I found the word knife in Horns, so I left that book and removed the Scarlet Letter.

Heli, Jojo removed the book she had on Team Names, so the Hitchhikers can go there.

For the main challenge we only have left the easy cards, lots of zeros and wilds that can be easy cards too. Colors are all done. So, we can be pretty much focused on the mini.
