I am in need of prayers for myself. I went to the eye doctor on Tuesday and I now need too see a specialist. All my doctor could say is that something is "not right" with my right macular. I need to see a specialist and she can work with my regular doctor to get me a referral to the Cleveland Clinic Eye Center.
Here's the scary part. I can only see 100% out of my right eye. I had a bleeding retina in my left several years ago that left me with a center dead spot. I have peripheral, but not dead center. So, fear is a big part right now.
I am at a day by day thing right now. I must stress that my vision is just fine, and that hopefully this is a normal thing for me that she just hasn't noticed before or wasn't enough of a concern before to be noted.
I will keep you posted.

RUN from this book as fast as you can. I am Rowling fan, but this dull, weak storied snooze fest left me felling like setting the book on fire. Over the top usage of "f---","c---" and other language just left me empty. The story for me did not resolve well, the characters who should have gotten what was coming to them didn't and two innocent characters got something they shouldn't have. Over all a major let down.

Brand new author and new supernatural concept. The vamps, werewolves and elves have taken over human society. Vamps do NOT bite women. EVER. The first line of the back of the books says that this is "The Firm" meets Anita Blake. It's not wrong.

I am a super economy size woman and proud of it. This book celebrates women and men like me with humor, facts, and stories that will make you cry.

Poems for the cat lover written from the cat's point of view. FUNNY!

(Sorry here, I realized my boo-boo and moved my review to an appropriate folder....Paul's comment goes with that. BAD MODERATOR! NO COOKIES FOR YOU!

I just read "Night of the Living Trekkies" which is most assuredly fan fiction and that's a good thing. I am not a hard core fan, so they will get more out of it than I did, as many of the inside jokes went past me at warp speed. I am a fan, but I cannot quote chapter and verse, but I was able to enjoy the story. Thankfully I have a Trek geek handy.
O.K. zombie invasion coupled with a Trek convention.
All you need to know.

Most assuredly prayers and good wishes to your family and your friend. Please do not hesitate to ask me for anything you need.

Will do. Please keep us posted!

This is the final Newsflesh book and all is revealed, with one thing I wish she hadn't,which was my only squick factor with this book and it had nothing to do with zombies. Over all this is a conspiracy nuts wet dream and the fact that it is not far fetched makes it truly scary.

In yesterdays paper, the situation above was continued.
http://www.cleveland.com/morris/index...This is the letter from the CEO:
http://blog.cleveland.com/letters/201...I for one am not buying any of this. This seems like a lame response to be the "we got caught with our pants down" situation that has happened here. It is this kind of left hand, right hand that got them in this situation and I don't see it changing anytime soon. New buildings are not going to help Johnny learn if he is in a class that is too big and a teacher who is overwhelmed.
This is just one more symptom of a very deep problem.

I was reading in the Plain Dealer yesterday (8/26/12) about how a major screw up in the Cleveland schools. Now, the Cleveland Public system is not the most stellar system in the state, but they are trying. Sort of. Over the last several years, schools have been torn down, re-built, options for charter schools have developed and uniforms have been introduced to help streamline learning. The effects of busing, while no longer mandatory, are still being felt in neighborhoods as children as young as 6 are still being shipped across town to go to school instead of going to schools a few blocks away. Here is a link to the article.
http://www.cleveland.com/morris/index...I cannot believe the seeming excuse for sending 200+ students to a school that was torn down in 2009 and not have a human being there to direct people to the correct place! Too many of these kids have to walk a long way to get to the RTA bus system, which has also changed many routes as well as cancelled them over the last few years. The school buses themselves are seen as late as 7 p.m. taking students home. This as beyond inexcusable in a district that cannot afford to be making colossal mistakes such as this! Too many kids are failing, falling through cracks and more money is thrown after bad trying to fix too many problems at one time. Teachers have been laid off, classes made bigger and all sorts of other problems have plagued the system for years.
Here you have child ready to learn and this happens and the lame excuses do not and cannot make up to this child what lesson he has learned. His desire and drive have been damaged, perhaps not beyond repair, but they certainly have been tainted by this enormous mess created by a clerical error that should never have happened.
If this is the kind of thing the schools are capable of on the administrative level,it's no wonder they are in trouble!

Book 2 of the Newsflesh trilogy by Mira Grant. All I can say is that there is no hand basket big enough for the trip.

Unfortunately, the BBW erotica is only on e-reader/Kindle for those of us who don't own one. GRRRR!

Marita Fowler has come up with the best and most funny books I have read in years. Fans of Stephanie Plum, Serge Storms and any book by Carl Hiaasen, will delight in Shasta and Ulyssa, two hard working gals from Nitro, W.V. After finding themselves unemployed suddenly, they use the internet to find work. A misunderstanding with mob lingo gets them jobs as hit women. Comedy of errors ensues. In book 2, they are at it again, only this time as bodyguards. More action based and less comedy of errors, it still does not let you down.
READ them, protest until your local stores carry them, and spread the joy.

Elton John wrote this as his wake up call to the world regarding the still pervasive and ridiculously still spreading tide of HIV/AIDS due to narrow mindedness and stigmas around the world, including this country. I was horrified to hear some of the stats about Africa. We need to focus on this and not the "war on obesity" which is NOTHING compared to this world wide crisis. I disgusted with the world and ashamed of my country.

This is the first book of a new trilogy by Seanan McGuire who is writing as Mira Grant. To say any more would spoil the books, but I will try. Zombies exist due to a mutation caused by cure for the common cold and cancer. It happens in 2014 and by 2040, when the books are set, bloggers are considered serious journalists and are the only unfiltered news source. That's all I can tell, you except this, READ IT!

This is the sequel to "Discovery of witches". That was good and this picks up right where book 1 leaves off. Now, for those of you who have read book 1 last year, either re-read it, or hope you remember enough details, cause there is no "previously on...." style of recap. I spent a good 1/3 of the book trying to remember who the narking snot some of the characters were and why I should care.

Christopher Moore decided to set his delightfully warped mind on the Impressionist Art Movement and the death of Van Gogh, who shot himself in a field then walked a mile or two to get a doctor. Moore questions the idea that if he really wanted to kill himself, why find help? Perhaps he was shot by someone else? This history filled romp with pictures of real art, and real historical tidbits not to mention Moore's warped sense of humor, this is really good read.

Well, the wedding went well. I have posted a few pictures on my profile. I did not get the wedding party as I wanted to because there were no photo ops at the wedding and they did not bring their flowers to the reception. I hope to get a digital photo from the bride when they get home from the family honeymoon.
So, the bride wore a white ball gown with crystals and a sweetheart corset top, strapless dress with a lace bolero and tiara. She was absolutely gorgeous. The bridesmaids all wore strapless floor length satin with a "diamond" detail at the one hip, with bolero jackets. The color was a deep, rich Marine blue. The groom and ushers were in black tuxes with Marine Blue pocket squares and white shirts.
The bride wore a second gown to the reception as the ceremony gown was borrowed from a family friend. For the reception, she wore a strapless satin sheath style gown with crystal detail at the waist and cross-cross ruched sweet-heart neckline and a lace bolero, and the train was pinned up.
The ring bearer and flower girl were both dressed in their First Communion dresses with matching Marine blue sashes and tiny tiaras.
The food was banquet hall food, but the bar! EEEEE! It was cheaper to provide their own liquor than have the hall do it, so it was top shelf all the way baby!
I, who do not drink, had 2 Tanqueray Gin and Tonics, 4 glassed of champagne, Kahlua and cream, and a shot of Cuervo 1800 Tequila with the bride. No hangover, never got sick. (Big grin.) I learned that I like Amaretto Sours but I do NOT like Dewars. (UGH!)
I danced. I shook my groove thing,I shook what my mamma gave me, and I dropped it like it's hot.
I had a blast.
Went to the doctor today for regular appointment.
I am now at 351.2 lbs. I have lost more weight!
