Misfit wrote: "I know. I didn't even know I bought a book I already owned until I got home and shelved it."I hate when that happens. What's worse is when you make lists of books owned and books to be found and take them along to prevent such things....and it STILL happens. Not that I've ever done that. Certainly not.

I have way more books than that and even have two separate mounts of..."Hi, Jennifer! Glad to have you join wherever works. We've got a lively bunch here at GoodReads. All kinds of buddy-reads and conversations going on. I can't keep up with everybody. But a great group that takes care of themselves pretty well. :-)

For me, I have to give a book 100 pages (sometimes more for longer works) in order to feel like I've "read" it and am able to count it as done.
Rio (Lynne) wrote: "Bev, do DNF books count? They qualified, spent an hour or more of our time, but were not entertaining enough to finish, but they did get moved out of that collecting dust pile...."Sure...as long as they meet your own personal DNF rules (for me, I have to give a book at least 100 pages--sometimes longer if the book is longer--for me to count it as really "read").
La_mariane wrote: "Hello! I'm la_mariane, both on LJ and goodreads. I love the idea to reduce the number of un-read books I own. Too bad I can't bring myself to give them or sell them once I've read them..."Hi! Glad you're here. I have a hard time getting rid of books too. I'm getting a little better...but my husband still wants to take my temperature every time I'm willing to give some up.
Welcome Tracey and Malin! Those other books (and library book sales) do make it hard to scale the TBR mountains.

Just surfed through A Novel Challenge (blog devoted to challenges)....and didn't see anything. You could start one! And call it, "Read It Again, Sam" (with a photo of Humphrey Bogart from Casablanca :-) ). If I weren't already managing four challenges (and this one in two places--here and the blog), I'd be tempted to host....
So far, I have read one book from the library. Started one book from Mount Everest. And...over the weekend...added 18 new (to me) books to the TBR mountain range. Yes, sir, doing things right.

Welcome back Karen! Now that you've got your climbing legs you should be all set for 36!
