I read Life and Death in the Andes: On the Trail Of Bandits, Heroes and Revolutionaries by Kim MacQuarrie.
I read (actually re-read) The Gods Are Thirsty by Tanith Lee. It is about the French Revolution, but told in such a unique way that I never get tired of it. Probably one of my all time favorite books.

I read Beloved by Toni Morrison. I didn’t even realize it would fit this category before I read it. Really great book, but definitely a heavier read.

I read Children of Ruin by Adrian Tchaikovsky. It is Book 2 in a series, so I also recommend Children of Time (Book 1). Both are really outstanding books.
I read A Long Petal of the Sea by Isabel Allende. Wonderful - by far the best book I’ve read this year.
I read Storm of Locusts by Rebecca Roanhorse. It’s the second in the book series that starts with Trail of Lightning.
I read the Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain. I didn’t realize the “Prince” in the story is Edward VI!
I read The Story That Cannot Be Told by J. Kasper Kramer. It’s a middle-grade novel that takes place in Romania. Both my daughter and I loved it. Makes a great read-aloud.
