837268 I read (actually re-read) The Gods Are Thirsty by Tanith Lee. It is about the French Revolution, but told in such a unique way that I never get tired of it. Probably one of my all time favorite books.

837268 I read Children of Ruin by Adrian Tchaikovsky. It is Book 2 in a series, so I also recommend Children of Time (Book 1). Both are really outstanding books.

837268 I read Space Invaders by Nona Fernandez. A novella that takes place in Pinochet-controlled Chile.
837268 I read The Story That Cannot Be Told by J. Kasper Kramer. It’s a middle-grade novel that takes place in Romania. Both my daughter and I loved it. Makes a great read-aloud.
