BLURB:

Powells
Howard Andrew Jones' powerful world-building brings this epic fantasy to life in For The Killing of Kings, the first book of his new adventure-filled trilogy.

Their peace was a fragile thing, but it had endured for seven years, mostly because the people of Darassus and the king of the Naor hordes believed his doom was foretold upon the edge of the great sword hung in the hall of champions. Unruly Naor clans might raid across the border, but the king himself would never lead his people to war so long as the blade remained in the hands of his enemies.

But when squire Elenai’s aging mentor uncovers evidence that the sword in their hall is a forgery she’s forced to flee Darassus for her life, her only ally the reckless, disillusioned Kyrkenall the archer. Framed for murder and treason, pursued by the greatest heroes of the realm, they race to recover the real sword, only to stumble into a conspiracy that leads all the way back to the Darassan queen and her secretive advisors. They must find a way to clear their names and set things right, all while dodging friends determined to kill them – and the Naor hordes, invading at last with a new and deadly weapon.

80482 Thanks Jack for the share! You rock.

I am a big fan of Charles A. Gramlich's stories. Was thrilled to learn he wrote an essay on the same topic I interview folks about.

BTW Black Gate is simulcasting the interviews in my Beauty in Weird fiction series, so you can find the same interview there:

This was a fun one.

Have been interviewing since 2014 (starting with Janet Morris)
18 in the series now dedicated to Beauty in Weird fiction.
This is my third broadcast on Black Gate (having cornered Darrell Schweitzer in 2018 and Sebastian A. Jones from Stranger Comics too) .

For the list of all 18, check out this table of contents:

Richard, lol. I think you may be getting that $20 Imaro!
80482 Nice! I confess having been sucked into Bright Insights, a YouTube channel dedicated to ancient civilization’s technology.

Here is one example on stone work:

DMR books (Brian Murphy contribution) posts a very interesting article that encourages me to push a H Rider Haggard groupread. King Solomons Mines? SHE?

Interesting similarities with Tolkien and Howard re: views on civilization.

Thx Jason. Appreciate the heads up on the broken link sent in the email to everyone too (I can't fix right away since I can only send one message per day to the group)

Thanks Jack! Banners take some time but are fun, and I learn a lot about cover artists. If we have a graphic artist in the group, we can explore sharing the fun (if not for the Groupread, then for some other purpose).

I'm in for Twilight Echoes for this read, to start anyway. You?
