I have all the Savage Swords in the original and definitely like it the best out of all the comic series. Love the reprints that have come out but also miss all the backup stories that went with them. The Dark Horse comic is a good runner up.

I definitely need to reread this book. Last I read it was like 20 years ago, though I remember liking it. Of course I was all hyped on Conan back then and liked nearly everything that came out. Curious how I would react to it now.

Yeah I would have to agree Michael that some of the best art for an armored Conan definitely came from the Savage Sword of Conan. Some pretty good stories too to boot. Sad thing that they didn't start reprinting the entire series in PB before I had collected all the issues in the run LOL!

Reading
The Relentless Ones and the House of Shadows. So far so good! Then hopefully get in some of the Red Sonja series by
David C. Smithfor the group read.

Will check it out as soon as I finish the book I am currently reading, Space Viking by H. Beam Piper.

Kravel and Gurding were hilarious! I couldn't help but to think of them as if they were some English gentlemen who went brigand. They were cruel, calculating, and courteous, which of course makes them perfect villains. I would definitely like to read of things from their perspective. It would open up some of the hinted at things that happened off-page in Riddle in Stone which I would of liked to have known more about. Something like this reminds me of what Orson Scott Card did with the Ender/Bean saga when he retold Ender's Game from Bean's perspective.

Already got one on here and it cross-posts to Facebook. I will put it on Amazon as well, no problem.
Third book possibly in February.... very nice! Can't wait!

Loved it!! A really great story which kept me at the computer far longer than I would normally of sat! LOL I can't wait to read the second volume in the series. Good luck to you on that contract, with stories like this you deserve it!

Well I went ahead and bought your book and started reading it a little bit ago. So far I am enjoying quite a bit.

Michael and I were discussing Imaro Cover Art in the "Cover Art Thread" and with this note I try to bring it back into this discussion.
--> https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/109..."I actually enjoyed the new cover for Imaro. I think it captured the first story rather nicely. It also somewhat reminded me of Conan when I first seen it. The covers for the second book "The Quest for Cush" I for the most part liked both the DAW version and the newer release. The only thing about the DAW version I thought was weird is that they make Imaro out to be practically a giant. I haven't had a chance to read it yet so maybe he ran into a tribe of pygmee's? The newer versions cover though I like the figures (it's a classic position they are in)though the background could of been a little better.

My to be bought list just keeps getting bigger lol

I always did like the Brak stories. Need to revisit them sometime soon.

It would be really sweet if Mr. Saunders would stop by for a chat. I would like to hear what any of his plans for further stories are!
On another note I was fortunate enough to find the first three original DAW copies of Imaro stories at a very good price. So I will hopefully very soon get to jump back in to the fascinating world of Imaro.

Well I have finally finished Imaro and must say the stories were pretty darn good. Now I pretty much have to find the second book because I can't just let the story end here.

So far I am in the middle of the Afua story. I am actually enjoying these African based tales more than I figured I would. I only wish he would of put in some kind of pronunciation guide because I have always tripped up over African words LOL. I have looked all over for those early editions of the stories because I really wanted to read "Slaves of the Giant-Kings" but the prices online are way to high and are nonexistent in the used bookstores here, but I am still hoping to stumble across that little treasure.

I have done the same on a few occasions when I have finally gotten tired of looking in the bookstores. Sometimes you just have to do it, in fact lately I have done it quite a bit lol!

Yeah the hunt is definitely at times more fun than the reading. Spent more time than I would like to think about poking around used bookstore shelves. Fortunately out here there are still a couple nice ones to frequent. It will be a sad day if they disappear. Getting them online is just to ridiculously expensive unless you go on ebay and buy in bulk.

Fixed that for you."Ain't that the truth!!

That Conan is a very nice find! I need to read the witch world series too. Had some of them a long time ago but I think I traded them so have to get them again.

Picked up a nice stack of 19 books today at the local used bookstore. Some of the authors were Eric Van Lustbader, H Beam Piper, Alan Burt Akers, Kenneth Bulmer, Leigh Brackett, Harold Lamb, Lin Carter, Jane Gaskell .... Has anybody read Ursus of Ultima Thule by Avram Davidson? Found it on a random pass of the shelf and was like huh what the heck. Now to get them all entered on Goodreads fun fun.
