78394 Sue, those are hard! the only thing can think of for number 1 is My Left Foot, but that doesn't fit.

How about ; The Handicapped Person and the small tokens of personal belief belonging to him.

Charlie would be my number one pick for a character I empathized with. Arya in A Song of Ice and Fireis a close second. When Martin picks on Arya, I take it personally!

Death note is actually the only manga I've ever read (other than some Shakespeare). It's pretty good, but obviously it didn't impress me enough to get me reading manga.

The CD idea is a great one. The best tip I ever got for enjoying poetry is that it is written to be heard. I always read it out loud (So it's not the best thing to read in a coffee shop!)

78394 Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen is a good one to start with; it's shorter and easier to read, and the main character is a lot of fun.

78394 I don't know if it would qualify as a classic, but I've been wanting to read The Old Gods Laugh byFrank Yerby
Jan 26, 2013 12:53PM

78394 I'm reading Dodger by Terry Pratchett, The Man Who Laughs by Victor Hugo, The Pickwick Papers, by Dickens, and The Mill on the Floss by George Eliot. I'm also listening to the audio version of Shannon, by Frank Delaney. I don't usually have so many on the go, but I can't seem to settle on just one right now.

78394 right now I am loving The Neighbors (because it makes me laugh until my belly hurts) The Walking Dead (because the characters are great and you never know who they are going to kill off)and Once Upon a Time (because hey, it's fairy tales!)I am looking forward to the return of Game of Thrones, the series, but not nearly as much as I'm looking forward to the next book.

78394 Hi readers, I'm Leora, from BC, Canada. My main loves are classics and fantasy, but I read almost everything. My secret vice is reading trashy chick-lit in the bath, but it can't be too trashy, because I hate reading sex scenes-- I prefer the old "fade to black" mentality. My favourite book? I'm like Charlie; it's the last one I read. My favourite authors are Austen, Wilde, Wodehouse, and right on top, Terry Pratchett. If I could nominate a book for classic status it would be Never Let Me Go, by Kazuo Ishiguro.
If I had a superpower, I'd want to be able to jump into books, like Thursday Next.
