753293 My apologies for being a bit late with this, I am not spending a great deal of time online with my laptop, so rarely visit here at the moment.

April's word is 'Define'
The generator offered definition but I changed it to the verb which should be easier to find something that offers more book choices.

I hope you all have a lovely April and a Happy Easter holiday

753293 It is interesting that we find ourselves with most friends due to proximity, once either of us moves on we lose touch and soon realise we had little in common.

I have hit a reading brick wall! I have read just one book in the last 6 or 7 weeks. This means I didn't even get around to choosing a book to read for March

753293 For March we have something I think will be quite difficult, but who knows?
Our word in 'Hospital'
Here is a list https://www.goodreads.com/search?utf8...

Good luck all

Great review Niffer, Thank You

I read Smith of Wootton Major

A great little Fairy Tale suitable for youngsters yet quite enjoyable for us 'older' readers even if it is only 61 pages short.
It's entirely about being good and kind and thinking of others but it's not twee or condescending. Great short read.

753293 All choices so far now feature on our home page.
Anymore for anymore?

753293 Love the review Niffer.

To both you and Andrea, good idea to post reviews here, probably better than the one I had of doing it separately.

753293 I've just reserved this one from the library

Smith of Wootton Major

753293 Where do I start? 782 pages of pure delight.

Considering this is such a big book, this was easy to get into. There are quite a few characters involved so you have to take your time and understand where they all fit in. The story flows wonderfully with never a dull or wasted page and come the finish, I still wanted to read on about the lives and magic of these characters.

The book is separated into 3 volumes, I guess to give the reader a break as much as anything else but the story continues to flow through one to the other. It is written much like a biography in that there are also footnotes concerning little vignettes of other stories or something that happened to one of the characters. Great stuff!

I'm setting my challenge at 52 again. I know I've reached that nearly every time I've set it but I always feel 1 book a week is a good target. I also read quite a few short stories and although Goodreads includes them, I tend to not count them and it often rounds down to around 50 full books.

Looks interesting but not sure I could be that strict with myself.

753293 It is a bit of a challenge in itself at 800+ pages
Dec 29, 2018 05:55AM

753293 I've floated in and out of challenges over the years, the only one I've ever really stuck to is the Goodreads one. 2019 will be no different but I would like to finish The Coyote Universe by Allen Steele, I'm on #4.5 of 8.
Then I'd really like to read all the Foundation Series by Isaac Asimov. I've read the original trilogy a couple of times but I now have all the other Foundation books and I really should get on with them.

753293 I have Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke on my shelf at home so this is an obvious choice for me.
Dec 27, 2018 06:35AM

753293 The start of a new year brings an easier word. It is:
'Strange'
Of course words like Stranger can also be used.
Here is a list to help you on your way.
Happy Reading.

753293 This was brilliant. A very different storytelling style to what I am used to but that made it all the more entertaining.
Robert Johnson, the legendary blues man walks into the reservation looking for Big Mama. He gives his guitar to Thomas Builds-The-Fire which completely changes his life.
Talking guitars, Native American histories and dreams.
Highly recommend this book and I'll be reading more from this author.

753293 I know, I'm just being honest to the Random Word thing but I know what you mean

753293 Just found this one at Project Gutenburg Connecticut Boys in the Western Reserve: A Tale of the Moravian Massacre

I don't know if I'll get to read it though

753293 My library doesn't have anything :(
I'm struggling with this one
