721 You can buy the ac power adapter seperately for the Kindle for $19.95 - it only comes with the USB charger. Make sure you get the Australian version (bottom of the page) if you purchase one, otherwise you will need to pick up a travel power adaptor which you can get at any Dick Smith, etc

721 I'm also a fan of bookdepository.com (& co.uk)who are now also selling ebooks. I read around a book a day (250 so far this year) and supporting my habit is just beyond me so the library is my best friend.

I was given an iPod Touch for my last birthday and that is my primary ereader, though I want a Kindle as well, despite having the Kindle app on my iPod. :)

Ebooks are much more affordable and much more accessible - particularly when you live hours out of a capital city, with one book store, and have ecelectic tastes.

I buy most of my ebooks from Amazon (did you know Amazon offers free ebooks sporadically?) but also sometimes diesel-ebooks.com and very occassionally borders.com.au.

why it's not available as an ebook
Australian publishers deliberately delay the release of titles in e-version because they want you to buy the hardcovers most of all, or at least the trade paperback (big sized ones) because that is where their money is. Some publishers have a target sales bench before they will release an e version, others won't release until the book is going into mass paperback in order to wring out every last drop. In general Australian publishers are fighting epublication with a shortsighted passive aggressiveness.
721 I know the feeling Gail, I am a mother of 4 children aged 4 - 14, and work two part time jobs, but I read fast. I also have no impulse control so if I see it I have to have it :)

721 I most recently read Phillip Gwynnes The Build Upthat I thought was great.
A Fortunate Life by AB Facey should be a must read for any Aussie

I also love
Robert G Barret, Keri Arthur Peter CorrisBryce Courtenay; Kathy LetteGretel KilleenMelina MarchettaKerry GreenwoodKerry GreenwoodNick EarlsP.D. Martin Kathryn Fox and I really want to read some of Katherine Howell so I've asked my library to get them in.
721 LOl My TBR list is at over 1000. I don't think I manage it but I do use it when I go to the library to see what they have that Ive been looking for , or if I'm browsing through a second hand store or any store really.
I actually have around 200 books on my TBR list that I own but havnt read yet.
I'm a bit of an addict :)

721 Hi All
My name is Shelleyrae, I live in country NSW and like most of you read, a lot. I have eclectic tastes and a massive TBR pile. Lately I mostly read ebooks but can't resist the lure of the library and secondhand books. I happily read just about anything, Ive just finished my 250th book for this year, but I have recently decided to read a few more Aussie writers.
I review here at Goodreads regulary and have a reasonably new blog at http://www.bookdout.wordpress.com - would love it if you dropped by to visit and feel free to friend me here at GR (http://www.goodreads.com/shelleyrae ) - just comment that you saw my post in this group.
