I just finished Waratah House by Ann Whitehead, a new release, which is set in the late 1800's in Australia among the servants of a mansion.
The same author also has Australia Street set in the 1940's in inner city Sydney

(BTW that second book cover in your post isnt hers. The overseas version of Silent Valley will be called
