She is South African by birth but grew up in Australia and, after a brief stint overseas, lives in Australia now. Her books were first published here too (Pan MacMillan) and so she is promoted as an Australian author in the publishing world :)

(BTW that second book cover in your post isnt hers. The overseas version of Silent Valley will be called
