Catch 22 was one of my favorites. How do you get the picture of the book to show up in your post?"

Kevin, you can get the cover of a book to appear in your post by clicking on add book/author, choose cover, choose book, type the title and then if the book is retrieved click add. Some books aren't retrieved on the first try. What I do then is search for the author and go to the author page. Then when I switch back to book, only books by that author will be retrieved. That usually works.

70438 I am finishing Illuminations: A Novel of Hildegard von Bingenwhich I started in October.

My highest rated To Read shelf book is Khakhanate Book II The Crow. It's the second book in a duology. I want to get the background so I'll be reading Khakhanate Book I The Ravenfirst. They both take place in an alternate universe in which the Mongols invaded America. I understand they are long. So these will be my Kindle reads for the month of November. I expect to be reading other print reads concurrently.

70438 I'm reading Illuminations: A Novel of Hildegard von Bingen, a historical fiction about a really amazing medeival abbess. I probably won't be able to finish it today. This means that I'll be in revolt against November's theme, I suppose.

I just started getting ARCs through NetGalley myself too. There are several things you need to understand about Net Galley. The ARCs are from traditional publishers not e-publishers. They call themselves a website for professional reviewers, but they accept bloggers as members. If you want ARCs from major publishers, you must go through their approval process. They each have very specific criteria that are spelled out on the website. Just search for publishers and you can find out what each publisher wants. In general, the major publishers want well-established blogs with very high visibility. On the other hand, you can also get ARCs from small publishers that you can just download without going through an approval process. That's what I've done.

70438 I'm currently reading Painter of Silenceby Georgina Harding. It deals with a deaf artist in Romania during the 1950's largely from the perspective of a nurse who knew him when they were both children. I'm finding it very compelling and am already halfway through.

@Tammy--I see that I'm not going to be the only November theme rebel.

70438 Re November theme--It turns out that my highest rated to read is the second book in a duology. I have both on my to-read, but the second book is rated 5.00, the only book on my to-read shelf with a perfect score. I have nothing against reading out of order, but these are alternate universe novels. So it's probably better to get the background in the first book before I read the second. I have just downloaded them both from Smashwords. I'm not sure I have the time to read the first book before November. I may have to be a Theme Rebel because I want to read the first book before the second.

70438 I'm reading As The Crow Fliesby Craig Johnson, #8 in the Walt Longmire series. This is the third book I've read in that series. This one deals with a Cheyenne woman who fell to her death from a cliff.

70438 I'm reading about books banned in libraries which I think is really creepy. The book is True Stories of Censorship Battles in America's Libraries

70438 I'm Shomeret in California though originally from New York. I read anything that sounds unusual and/or deals with concepts that interest me.

I like the idea of being a Theme Rebel if you aren't interested in the theme, but I also noticed that no one has to be a Theme Rebel in October. You just have to put the book that you're about to read on your To Read shelf just before you start. Then lo and behold, you are reading the most recent book added to your To Read shelf. I think that's charming.
