Friday night we watched, Australia. I know it received mixed reviews, but really loved it. Cried at the end! The young boy in it should have been nominated for an Oscar!
Some of my favorite movies:
Wizard of Oz
The Music Man
The Shop Around the Corner
Double Indemnity
All About Eve
Now Voyager
Gone With the Wind
Wuthering Heights
Frankenstein
Wolfman
Young Frankenstein
Some Like it Hot
Rebecca
Arsenic and Old Lace
Okay, I'm getting carried away!!

This is probably another one of my all time favorites! I thought it was so well written. The history behind the circus, the people in the circus(the ones you liked & hated!), the romance, just to name a few things that I liked. Of course, I LOVED the ending. I'm always recommending this book!

I recently read My Sister's Keeper. It was such a moving book. I liked how Picoult changes the point of view with each new chapter/character. Yes, I was in complete shock when I read the ending. Did a bit of investigating concerning the movie version. I read somewhere the ending might be changed! I think it would ruin the entire book! I hope it's not true!

We read this several years ago for bookclub. I thought it was an excellent book. The characters were well developed and the history of geishas were very interesting.
Fiona wrote: "yeah, I'm interested in that book as well, kathy but it isn't in the library unfortunately..."I buy way too many books!
Emilee wrote: "Kathy tell me how you like it. I bought it and would like to read it."I'm about halfway through it and I'm finding it very interesting, but because of the subject, it is sad.

I am now reading, The True Story of Hansel and Gretel. Since our students are working on their Holocaust research, I've decided to take the plunge and read 3 that have been on my list. After that, Those Who Save Us.

I enjoyed all of them, especially Twilight. The only part in Breaking Dawn that I read quickly through was Jacob's. Like the ending!

I have read a few books by Bill Bryson. If you haven't read, The Life and Times of the Thundebolt Kid, put this on your list! It's a hilarious memoir.
Christina Stind wrote: "I'm reading Wonder Boys by Michael Chabon and short stories in Eldritch Horrors: Dark Tales, edited by goodreads member Henrik S. Harksen - scary stuff!
I've been wanting to read Wonder Boys for a ..."Christina, haven't read, Wonder Boys, but I read, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, and loved it! Let me know if you've already read it or have it on your list to read.

Just finished The Graveyard Book - really enjoyed it! Would make a great readaloud for middle grade students. I am now reading, Sarah's Key. It was recommended to me by a friend and my Mom's bookclub is reading it right now.

Finished The Shack. Very good. I can't wait for bookclub to discuss it. Wonder what each member will have to say. It really makes you think about your own faith. Now I'm reading, The Graveyard Book, by Neil Gaiman. I slightly reminds me in the beginning of the 1st Harry Potter book.

Thanks Alicia, Ken, & KrisT for all of your insights on The Shack! Truly appreciate it! That's what I like about Goodreads. I'm finding it difficult to put this book down right now.

Well, I said I'd read, The Graveyard Book, after finishing, My Sister's Keeper, but I thought I should read, The Shack, first. It's our bookclub book for April 8th. My husband read it about a month ago in 2 days. Loved it! He said it was very deep and thought provoking. Has anyone else read, The Shack?

I'm reading The Lie of Pi. Slow start, but now I hate to stop."It does start out slow, but I think you'll love the ending! Let me know!
Lorena wrote: "Emily, I liked that book, the story was good. I enjoyed watching the movie too."I also liked the book as well as the movie.

Have The Graveyard Book on my coffeetable. Need to read it before we head back to school - kids will be wanting to check it out!
Emilee wrote: "Beth: Extremely Loud... was great. I really liked it."I read Pride and Prejudice after finishing The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. The author refers to Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth a few times in the book. If you haven't read Guernsey yet, add it to your list!

Happy St. Joseph's Day today! It's the feast of the Italians! Hope you're wearing red! If not, make sure you eat some pasta today!
Emilee wrote: "Welcome to the group Eve!"The secret for 30 years of marriage? Well, opposites attract! He's a Cardinal fan & I'm a Cub fan - a mixed marrriage! Probably also sharing some of the same interests, staying involved together with our children, just to name a few.
