Okay, sorry for delay - last two weeks threw everything they possibly could in my direction :SThe theme read is going up now!
I'd personally go with Jane Eyre, out of the list that's definitely my favourite ;)I have the name of the book I'll be restarting and hopefully finishing this time: A Darkness Forged in Fire - it's not the sort I've been reading recently but was definitely the genre I was constantly reading back when I bought it. I think I stopped midway because I'd overdone the fantasy so much that I was in dire need of something a bit different, and then I just never went back :(
I'll be starting the unfinished book once I've finished The Island - it was given to me as a World Book Night book so I need to finish and leave it in the Cathedral over the bank holiday... lots of people will be there for the festival and as entrance is free to the Cathedral a few tourists will probably pop in :)Still need to find the unfinished book though as I can't remember the title :S
Get them out, find the old bookmark and move it back to the front or just see if you can remember what happened before you stopped. That's right folks, I know you have them, those poor books that you put down mid-read and never picked back up to finish. Well this month is now abandoned book awareness month. So rekindle the romance, the thrill and the suspense that never had a chance to show you it's all...Or just pick up an unfinished book and finish it ;)
Ooh, good luck! I know I have one hanging around somewhere. It's in the fantasy genre but it's been so long since i picked it u I'm not entirely sure what it was about except there was an elf involved :S
Sorry, I was trying to make a choice and got sidetracked thinking of my own books for the ones I came up with, which then led to me looking through one of my bookcases.... which led to me deciding to rearrange my bookcases :SSo, May's them shall be.... *drumroll*.... "A Book You Started Once"!
If you have a book you've picked up, read some and then put down again for one reason or another then this shall be a theme read for you. (I'm rather thinking of picking up one I put down and left for a reason that isn't because I didn't like it ;P)
I have the commentary to look forward to - just need to find time to go through them all over again :) I may slow it down though... keep the LOTR joy going longer!
Fellowship is tougher but so worth the effort to get to TT. I'm with Thalia in that it is amazing to read :)This week I actually got my mitts on the films (extended edition... and boy they weren't lying about the extended-ness of it all) and watched a disc a night (1 film = 2 discs). I love having the book and DVDs in my possession... Tolkien's world is just too gorgeous :D
Hello Ashley & welcome to the group :D I'm glad to hear you'll have more time to tackle your dustys soon :) Enjoy, have fun and... enjoy (it's doubly imperative that you enjoy ;D)
Oh Alana, I suppose I'll let you off then ;) Totally understand the effects of outside life, gets annoying when all you want to do is read!
Alana with the pretty flower... lemme choose your next read... go on, pretty please!! ;DI've finished Beowulf, which was very interesting (and who knew there was more than Grendel & his mother to be dealt with... not me!) but I've spent the weekend feeling so utterly terrible I couldn't read for the words spinning on the page so I'm a tad behind on my reading plans :(
Carolyn, in order to not feel too slighted if someone does call you 'C' it may be an idea to remember that some of us occasionally need to type quickly or are too asleep in the morning to remember people's names by anything than what's on the screen (that's me before 2 teas ;D). It's not going to be a slight to you just practicality ;)
Heather wrote: "Game of thrones it is! Thanks Hayley"Enjoy it! I've read Game of Thrones, have just received S1 boxset of the show and will then move on to book 2. Just give it time to get into ;D
Heather wrote: "This seems like a fun way to force me to read a book on my list instead of ignoring it!!http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/..."
Okay Heather - this depends on how big a read you want ;) If you're fine with Game of Thrones then I pick that, if you think you're going to be a bit busy then I choose McCarthy's The Road :D
Carolyn, if you can't participate in a challenge, that's fine, we don't ask everyone to take part or give us a reason why they can't :)
Catherine - I am DEFINITELY trusting you with future picks :D You have taste! I'm loving Beowulf (tho' it had to be left at home for work :( )! Thank you :D
Catherine wrote: "Haley -- definitely Pride and Prejudice! I have read that one yearly for the past 11 years... Although, if you still have time after that, go for Seamus Heaney's translation of Beowulf. (If you ca..."
Catherine, thanks, My P&P has been rated & read already (had to be done) Will look out my Beowulf, I know it's around somewhere ;D
Here's link to mine (please note - if there is a rating by it then it is read but, due to not updating for a while I have to find a day to go through it all): Shelf
Catherine wrote: "Sounds like fun. Here is the link to my dusty shelf: http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/..."Oh how can I not say this one.... Dracula
;D
The lovely Hayley unfortunately got sidetracked realising she had an essay & book review due and is soooo apologetic to Jessica and the group!!I'm going to go through my bookshelf today and get a book sorted for this :)
Show off pictures of your own library, book space area or the ones you dream about owning. I know I spend way too much time online looking at collections I wish I had ;)
