58149 Well, you know... I thought there'd be a smidgen of appreciation for the whole "Hard & Fruity" label.

Sounds like a desperately aroused gay guy?

*laughs*

@Oleg I don't eat candy that has high fructose corn syrup or partially hydrogenated oil so I'm totally with you... and the pictured labels are probably from twenty years ago when "artificial" meant... hell, God only knows what, actually.

58149 Well, anyone who had it pre-ordered before yesterday got a Riptide Yummy in their email. So it's like two books for the price of one? Get some now, get some later? *lol*

(Just for the record, I hate these things.)

58149 I just hope you guys aren't too upset about having to wait a little longer.

It'll be worth the wait. I promise. ;)

58149 Now if I could just get more people to grasp the color-gender analogy...

58149 It initially looked like a dark "purplish grey" to me. But I have horrible eyesight. We're talking Really Bad.

(Aren't you glad I didn't sign that commission in the Air Force... LMFAO.)

I saw it right away. Though, might be a professional thing.. I'll leave you two alone to stare at it, lol."

It's all in your level of sensitivity--what you "train" your eyes to see, and your subconscious perceptions, right? I'd posted this elsewhere and got a response of, "what's with the plain black square." =)

58149 Well of COURSE there will be a sequel.

*jump and squeeze tight* Best pre-Christmas present EVER!"

Uh. In case there was some confusion. We haven't been writing the sequel. These were things that were planned when DEoH was initially finished. LOL.

58149 Did you see the colors? Once your eyes adjust and can pick out the nuances within the shades of black, it's very easy to see them. The red are in the four corners, the green to the left and right of center, the blue above and below.

(I'm still looking for the blue, I've only ever seen the red and green.)

58149 Wasn't sure which thread to post this in.
But anyway, here--have another excerpt from a guest blog appearance. This time, part of a deleted scene:

Flight of the Elementals, Part 1.

58149 I was so preoccupied today that I totally missed my own guest blog appearance over at Dawn's Reading Nook.
Titled "Why Riptide-Joining the Wave."

Not too late to go drop a comment and enter the drawing. Or, you know, laugh at my rambling. =)

58149 A very intriguing video I just stumbled upon, a project called "Gender Obsolescence" and I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.

58149 No idea what I was looking for, precisely, so your answer is just fine. I think I was just curious.

You aren't the only one who noticed something between Nikishin and Ulyanov. We actually had to cut huge chunks of scenes and rewrite them because the two of them were totally stealing the show every time they walked onto the page. =)

A lot of people have expressed a character disconnect or a lack of engagement through the first portion of the story, I would love to figure out what was missing, what "went wrong" so to speak. Guess that's part of what this is.

58149 Curious. Would like to spark a discussion here, for those of you who've read DEoH.

What aspect of the story did you struggle with the most?
There are a number of themes that surface through the course of the novel, and many of them are the kind that "trigger" things for people. Or maybe it's a facet of the story that has glommed to the inside of your brain and won't go away no matter how hard you scrub?

58149 Just two cups? Oh crap, I'd die if I couldn't drink an entire pot every day. Or rather, someone else would die...

Oh yes, DEoH2 needs written. I'm still brainstorming ideas for that one.

And then. We shall write. ...

I can pay you with coffee? I make divine caffeine. Dark roast, teetering toward almost a little too strong with hand-whipped heavy cream, and sprinkled generously with cinnamon, nutmeg, and cocoa.
