56640 I am sitting here on my fourth hour of editing and drinking my fifth cup of tea. I am currently editing my first full-length novel. I have been primarily known for my short stories, but I had a really great idea to do a novel about a boy who has the ability to time travel every time his step mother hits him. I think the tag line is going to be "Sometimes you have to travel twenty years in the future, just to find out where you really belong." Or something like that.

So, that got me thinking, what are you working on right now?
I think that it is important to support each other, not only on what we have done, but on what we are trying to do. I know I need way more support when I am in editing hell, then I do when my stories come out.
I can't wait to hear!

I know how you feel Julie, but look, now at least you know Ottilie and me! I love that your family tells you to write something important, as if you could find a person between the ages of 10 and 20 who doesn't say Harry Potter, and The Hunger Games changed their life. Keep up the good fight. People always put down what they don't understand. Just think how stupid people in the neighborhood thought Steve Jobs was when he was building computers in his garage.

56640 Here is an article I wrote a while ago about my struggles as a dyslexic writer. (some of you who have been on here a while may have noticed that). The article blew up, and I got tons of emails from other writers who found motivation through seeing what someone else has had to overcome.

So what have you had to overcome in your writing career? Or, what have you had to overcome in order to be a writer?

56640 This is a great place to tell others about the wonderful indi books you have read and loved. It would be helpful if you can put the cover or the link to the book here.
*This is not a place for self-promotion or to promote someone you know.

I can't wait to see what you like.

Thank you Kevin, I am so glad you see this group the way I do! How did you hear about the group if I might ask? I'm always wondering where people find out about it.

Thanks Paula, you're such a great cheerleader. I spend a ridiculous amount of time on my blog (thank god I don't have kids yet) so thank you for your support!

Great Rob, sounds like a lot of people could benefit from the honesty of your wife.

56640 I just put up a post on the Writing section of this group, about an article I wrote for writers. It's about how important the cover is to a successful book. That got my gears turning. IS there a book you loved but hated the cover? Either because it was poorly done or did not represent the book well? If you could include the cover in your message that would help.
* let's stick with traditionally published books, so we don't hurt the feelings of any other the indi writers on this site.

56640 Here is a place where we can help each other out. In all your years, weeks or days of experience as a writer, what is the best piece of advice you could give someone else?
Mar 14, 2012 11:39AM

56640 I know this article is going to be fairly controversial but maybe that is my job as the Mod, to say things that no one wants to say. I would love to hear your thoughts. I want to you to know that I am cringing as I write this, but I do want to hear your thoughts, kinda, sure, maybe.

You can ID the book if you want but you don't have to. This plan is about finding a book you want to read. Not about everyone getting a fair shot. I would love for it to be about being fair but in the real world no author will get a fair shot. Plus, everyone's time is limited. I want people to read what interests them. Then those authors are more likely to get a good and honest review.

Thanks Elizabeth! Do you mind if I use your review on my Facebook page? I will use the link to your website, hopefully that will bring even more traffic to you.

56640 NOTE:
Just a little reminder as always. You don't have to put the name of the book you bought on this page. BUT if you want to, you are more than welcome to. Plus, if you really liked the book you read and reviewed, then please feel free to let us know here as well. After you read the book, please post your reviews on Goodreads as well as Amazon and any other you feel like, but definitely those because they are the most helpful to the authors.

I have heard of your hometown. I went to Amazon UK and saw all my books up there. Are you trying to buy it on the Nook or the Kindle?

Hi Elizabeth,

Thank you so much for wanting to read my short story. I don't know why it would not download for you. I have sold books in the UK this month, so I don't know what the problem is.If there is anything I can do to help, let me know. Where in the UK are you from? I use to live in London.
