Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant follows a group of people attempting to figure out whether a ship tragedy from three years ago was actually the fault of a cluster of murderous mermaids. It is creepy! There is eye horror at one point! It is super interesting. It is ridiculously addicting. The romance is between a bi scientist and an autistic lesbian camera operator and it killed me and also my ghost. Oh, and also, if any of you know Seanan McGuire and her Every Heart A Doorway series, this is actually her under a different name.
This is one I adore that went super under the radar. This has been conveniently placed during this month, as it qualifies for the ever-popular Tome Topple readathon! We'll be reading it mostly from July 2nd to July 16th, but the discussion will hopefully go on throughout the month.

Girl Made of Stars by Ashley Herring Blake follows Mara, whose twin brother has just been accused of rape, as she navigates her own trauma and her complex feelings towards someone she thought she loved. This one is a really emotionally cathartic book, but it is definitely a hard read - there is extensive discussion of rape culture and sexual assault in general, and and an on-page flashback to a traumatic experience. The romance is between the bi lead and her ex-girlfriend Charlie, who is nonbinary. This is also by the author of the immensely popular and completely awesome How To Make A Wish.
This is one of my favorite books of the year and I'm so excited for the group to read it!! We'll be reading it from July 17th to July 31st and I hope you'll all join me <3

Dear Rachel Maddow also owned my life. It's my fave contemporary from this year and 10/10 would re..."
YEESSSSSS [also does Dear Rachel Maddow have a Romance]

aaaaaaaah i heard about that!! i love Much Ado and sort of hated Claudio in the original adaptation, so i wasn't sure whether to put it on my tbr? [I WANT A SAPPHIC BEA AND BEN ADAPTATION OKAY]

haha, that's always been my favorite of your shelves. and now you ARE rereading it!

My name's Sam. I'm bisexual and I'm so happy that I somehow found this group!! I haven't read a lot of sapphic books but this group has already lead me to some great ones to add to my TBR."
hey Sam!! I hope you find some amazing recs and friends from this group <3 <3

[but in all honesty the later stories were better for me and the first few were a lot of threes and fours, so maybe you’ll like the later stuff better?]

I hope you guys love it!! this was one of my favs of last year.

I'm kind of going through a sexuality crisis :') and I'd like to read more sapphic books! (God, I love this term ..."
these are some GOOD books Ola!! Into the Drowning Deep is one of my fav sapphic books, I think I'm annoying everyone else by how much I talk about it :') I haven't read Cam Girl yet, but I'm in the middle of Black Iris [same author] and it's SO AMAZING.

K. Ancrum? Who wrote my beloved Wicker King? And MacKenzi Lee? Writing sapphic novels? Sign me up, I don't even care what they're about. Thank you for letting me know this."
yes and both are actually #ownvoices for bi girl leads!! MACKENZI LEE'S BOOK IS GOING TO KILL ME IT'S GOT SUCH A GOOD PREMISE

yes, the Meet Cute one. the sapphic stories in that really brought it!! it's Emery Lord, Nina LaCour, Julie Murphy, and Meredith Russo. all of them were fours or fives for me!!

also, SAME. I’ve read so many good books about mlm, but I find it so difficult to recommend them as lgbtq books because it feels like I’ll recommend one m/m book and eight f/f books and the person asking will only read the m/m book, EVERY TIME. it’s so annoying!!
