so excited for this month!! i'm going to start this one out with suggesting The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. because gay.
532033 So guys, I'm almost done and I wrote some things about this book!!

➳So maybe the biggest strength of this book is how tense it is. I’ve seen one or two reviewers complain about the slow pace or about nothing happening until the end, but to be honest, I found this book the opposite of slow. Between flashbacks and ominous quotes and the tone, there's sense of terror pervading Into the Drowning Deep from page one. You know something is going to happen. You just don’t know exactly what.
➳I love all the characters so much! Tory Stewart is an icon for bi scientists everywhere. Olivia, who is an autistic lesbian camera operator, is maybe my favorite character. Jillian Toth, our resident badass half-Hawaiian scientist and post production problem child, is one of the coolest characters of this whole damn book. HALLIE. HEATHER. HOLLY. and overall icon ICONS.
➳that meet cute where Olivia is like "hi can i interview you for a-" and Tory cuts in and is like "no"
➳i LOVE how respectful of each other's boundaries Olivia and Tory are, it's really beautiful
➳Olivia being autistic and how the narrative treats that actually means so much to me?

Here's my full review.

Girl Made of Stars by Ashley Herring Blake follows Mara, whose twin brother has just been accused of rape, as she navigates her own trauma and her complex feelings towards someone she thought she loved. This one is a really emotionally cathartic book, but it is definitely a hard read - there is extensive discussion of rape culture and sexual assault in general, and and an on-page flashback to a traumatic experience. The romance is between the bi lead and her ex-girlfriend Charlie, who is nonbinary. This is also by the author of the immensely popular and completely awesome How To Make A Wish.

This is one of my favorite books of the year and I'm so excited for the group to read it!! We'll be reading it from July 17th to July 31st and I hope you'll all join me <3 you can make notes down below!

Every Heart A Doorway is great but honestly I loved this one even more!! it's such a Deeply My Vibe book and I love it
532033 HI HELLO this is the discussion thread for one of my favorite underrated sapphic reads!!

description
Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant follows a group of people attempting to figure out whether a ship tragedy from three years ago was actually the fault of a cluster of murderous mermaids. It is creepy! There is eye horror at one point! It is super interesting. It is ridiculously addicting. The romance is between a bi scientist and an autistic lesbian camera operator and it killed me and also my ghost. Oh, and also, if any of you know Seanan McGuire and her Every Heart A Doorway series, this is actually her under a different name.

This is one I adore that went super under the radar. This has been conveniently placed during this month, as it qualifies for the ever-popular Tome Topple readathon! We'll be reading it mostly from July 2nd to July 16th, but the discussion will hopefully go on throughout the month.

I'll be beginning my reread of this today and I hope you'll join me!

Funnily enough, we're reading books by both of these authors this month! I love all of these so much [well, I haven't gotten to Treasure yet] - Juliet Takes A Breath doesn't get the hype it deserves!

532033 Hey guys!
